Consensus among fans held ║ │ │║ that guitarist Ace Frehley's album was the most ║ │ │║ impressive of the four. Solo ambitions were what ║ │ │║ prompted Frehley to leave Kiss in the early ║ │ │║ '80s, but a serious car crash and recurring ║ │ │║ problems with drugs and drink postponed the ║ │ │║ release of 1987's FREHLEY'S COMET for a number ║ │ │║ of years. Joining Frehley in his new band were ║ │ │║ session bassist John Regan, Cheap Trick touring ║ │ │║ sideman Tod Howarth (guitar/vocals/keyboards), ║ │ │║ and drummer Anton Fig (of David Letterman's ║ │ │║ house band). While FREHLEY'S COMET doesn't quite ║ │ │║ match up to Frehley's solo debut, it has proved ║ │ │║ to be his best post-Kiss solo outing. Like many ║ │ │║ other '70s rock artists who resurfaced in the ║ │ │║ '80s, Frehley tried to inject glossy pop into ║ │ │║ his metal instead of sticking with the ║ │ │║ straight-ahead raw rock of yore. Still, the ║ │ │║ album includes several highlights, such as the ║ │ │║ anthem "Rock Soldiers" (detailing Frehley's ║ │ │║ near-fatal car crash), "Into the Night," ║ │ │║ "Stranger in a Strange Land," and the ║ │ │║ album-closing instrumental "Fractured. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Ace,s 1987 release is an Awsome 80,s record, ║ │ │║ they rock & remain true to Ace,s style, Rock ║ │ │║ soldiers is a Anthem & a classic! the words ║ │ │║ describe what happened to Ace in 1983 & why it ║ │ │║ took so long, - this was ace,s come back albulm. ║ │ │║ Anton figs drumming is great & even todd howard ║ │ │║ sings a song. if your new to KISS then buy the ║ │ │║ 1978 solo CD first then this. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ frehley's comet - album credits ║ │ │║ Scott Mabuchi Mixing ║ │ │║ John Regan Bass, Guitar (Bass), Vocals ║ │ │║ (Background), Assistant Producer ║ │ │║ Corky Stasiak Engineer ║ │ │║ Jon Zazula Executive Producer ║ │ │║ Mario Rodriguez Engineer ║ │ │║ Jeff Abisker Mixing Assistant ║ │ │║ Chris Bubacz Engineer ║ │ │║ Anton Fig Percussion, Drums ║ │ │║ Tod Howarth Guitar, Vocals (Background), ║ │ │║ Assistant Producer, Keyboards, Vocals ║ │ │║ Eddie Kramer Producer, Engineer, Mixing ║ │ │║ Ace Frehley Guitar, Producer, Vocals, Main ║ │ │║ Performer, Vocals (Background) ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Ace sobers up, gets some new band members and ║ │ │║ begins to crank again. I remember hearing ║ │ │║ bootlegs of the Comet live before this album ║ │ │║ even came out, and it sounded good. Once the ║ │ │║ album was out, I had to rush out and buy it. Ace ║ │ │║ sings on about half the songs with his "can't ║ │ │║ sing/ don't care" vocal style. The other half ║ │ │║ are sung by Tod Howarth who has the perfect ║ │ │║ melodic rock voice for the 80's, when this came ║ │ │║ out. "Rock Soldiers" is a biographical song and ║ │ │║ one of the best songs Ace has ever written. ║ │ │║ "Rock soldiers, how do we know? 'Cause Ace is ║ │ │║ back and he told you so!" Great song! "Breakout" ║ │ │║ was a song co-written by Ace and former Kiss ║ │ │║ bandmate Eric Carr. The drum work on this song, ║ │ │║ handled by Anton Fig, is outstanding. It's too ║ │ │║ bad Eric never was able to play on a finished ║ │ │║ version of this song, as this would have been ║ │ │║ his "Moby Dick." A demo version of this song ║ │ │║ with Eric on drums appears on Kiss' "Revenge." ║ │ │║ Of course "Fractured Too" is part two of the ║ │ │║ instrumental that originally appeared on Kiss' ║ │ │║ "Ace Frehley." As on the Kiss solo album, Eddie ║ │ │║ Kramer was once again behind the board turning ║ │ │║ the knobs. Ace Rules! ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ When the members of KISS set off in 1978 on ║ │ │║ separate paths to conceive individual solo ║ │ │║ albums few would have imagined that the standout ║ │ │║ success story would belong to Ace Frehley, with ║ │ │║ a catchy single and a top notch album full of ║ │ │║ excellent musicianship this set the wheels in ║ │ │║ motion for the Spaceman's departure from that ║ │ │║ group in 1982. ║ │ │║ Five years of silence would pass and Ace would ║ │ │║ answer his fans and critics with this ║ │ │║ outstanding 1987 effort featuring the cream of ║ │ │║ the crop of session musicians-Drummer Anton Fig ║ │ │║ (The David Letterman Band), Bassist John Regan ║ │ │║ (The Rolling Stones), Guitarist and Vocalist Tod ║ │ │║ Howarth (Ted Nugent). ║ │ │║ This album is the rarest of things, a commercial ║ │ │║ album with integrity and enough hard rocking ║ │ │║ attitude to satisfy both old KISS fans and new ║ │ │║ Rock Soldiers alike. From the anthemic album ║ │ │║ opener Rock Soldiers to the ballad like second ║ │ │║ single, Into The Night to the awesome heavy ║ │ │║ metal of Love Me Right, this cd is a winner. ║ │ │║ Frehley even provides a sequel to his beautiful ║ │ │║ 1978 instrumental Fractured Mirror, with the ║ │ │║ inclusion of Fractured Too. ║ │ │║ Frehley splits the vocal duties with sideman Tod ║ │ │║ Howarth, and even though Howarth does an ║ │ │║ admirable job, it is Ace's tunes that make this ║ │ │║ album great. ║ │ │║ KISS fans will be happy to see that late KISS ║ │ │║ drummer Eric Carr got a co-writing credit on the ║ │ │║ thunderous Breakout, another above average track ║ │ │║ that was included in its original 1981 demo form ║ │ │║ on KISS' excellent Revenge album in 1992 as a ║ │ │║ posthumous tribute. ║ │ │║ Upon release in 1987, this album gained the ║ │ │║ favour of almost all major rock and metal ║ │ │║ magazines and 17 years later it is still very ║ │ │║ easy to see why. The band would only get better ║ │ │║ several albums later with the addition of Richie ║ │ │║ Scarlet on guitar. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ In 1978, all four members of KISS released solo ║ │ │║ albums on the same day. Of these four solo ║ │ │║ albums, lead guitarist Ace Frehley's was by far ║ │ │║ the best one. It beautifully demonstrated that ║ │ │║ the guitarist was an even better musician than ║ │ │║ the peers he played with in the band. And nine ║ │ │║ years later, Ace put together a new solo band - ║ │ │║ appropriately entitled Frehley's Comet. And in ║ │ │║ 1987, the new band released its first album. How ║ │ │║ does Ace Frehley's first non-KISS recording in ║ │ │║ nearly a decade measure up? Read on for my ║ │ │║ review. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ The first thing I need to state is that this ║ │ │║ album, while excellent, sounds NOTHING like ║ │ │║ KISS. If you're looking for hard classic rock ║ │ │║ similar to KISS's stylings, you've come to the ║ │ │║ wrong place. However, if you're a fan of power ║ │ │║ rock bands like Whitesnake and Blue Murder, ║ │ │║ you're going to love this band. Two excellent ║ │ │║ arena rockers, Rock Soldiers and We Got Your ║ │ │║ Rock, can be found on this album. These rockers ║ │ │║ beautifully demonstrate that Mr. Frehley isn't ║ │ │║ about to be done rocking! Track by track, Ace ║ │ │║ serves up power rock tunes that, while similar, ║ │ │║ all manage to maintain a sense of individuality. ║ │ │║ And just so there's no confusion, Breakout is ║ │ │║ NOT the same song as the Bon Jovi one, and ║ │ │║ Stranger In A Strange Land is NOT the Iron ║ │ │║ Maiden song. The most obscure tune on the album ║ │ │║ is Dolls, a classic power rocker that employs ║ │ │║ keyboards and other elements of eighties new ║ │ │║ wave. Surprisingly this works well! It's my ║ │ │║ favorite track on the album. On Ace Frehley's ║ │ │║ KISS-era solo album, you may remember a melodic ║ │ │║ instrumental called Shattered Mirror that closed ║ │ │║ the album. Obviously Ace was satisfied with that ║ │ │║ track, because the closing track on this album, ║ │ │║ Fractured Too, is a follow-up to that classic. ║ │ │║ It's the best kind of melodic rock instrumental ║ │ │║ that you can do. All in all, forty minutes of ║ │ │║ rock excellence. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Frehley's Comet, though VERY different from ║ │ │║ Ace's old band, is still an excellent one. If ║ │ │║ you're just buying this because you "like KISS", ║ │ │║ you might be disappointed though. But if you ║ │ │║ love power rock and/or you're a KISS fan with an ║ │ │║ open mind, Frehley's Comet is the way to go. ║ │ │║ Though certainly nothing revolutionary, this is ║ │ │║ a great album worthy of a place in any power ║ │ │║ rock library. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ When Ace Frehley left Kiss,everyone knew ║ │ │║ something was missing,it became obvious that Ace ║ │ │║ WAS Kiss,then after creative differances with ║ │ │║ Gene and Paul,Ace wanted to go back to the ║ │ │║ basics,straight out ROCK. because of contractual ║ │ │║ obligations Ace wasnt able to release his solo ║ │ │║ album right away,and fans began to grow anxious ║ │ │║ for some Ace. 1987 saw the release of Frehleys ║ │ │║ Comet,power rock at its best. ║ │ │║ 1.Rock Soldiers 9/10-Ace's anti-drinking anthem ║ │ │║ 2.Breakout-8/10-Ace's bandmate Tod Howarth sings ║ │ │║ this one ║ │ │║ 3.Into The Night 10/10-The BEST song on here ║ │ │║ 4.Something Moved 7/10-Tod Howarth's best song ║ │ │║ 5.We Got Your Rock-9/10-An instant Ace classic ║ │ │║ 6.Love Me Right 10/10-Ace truly jams on this one ║ │ │║ 7.Calling To You 7/10-An anthemic song from ║ │ │║ Howarth. ║ │ │║ 8.Dolls 6/10-Catchy but not rocking enough. ║ │ │║ 9.Stranger In a Strange Land ║ │ │║ 8/10-Simple,memorable ║ │ │║ 10.Fractured Too 9/10-A worthly sequel to Ace's ║ │ │║ original "Fractured" from his solo masterpiece ║ │ │║ in 1978. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Best Songs:Rock Soldiers,Into The Night,Love Me ║ │ │║ Right ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Highest Possible Recomendation. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ With this album, Ace spreads his cape and shows ║ │ │║ us his two sides-- the rock star and the ║ │ │║ creative artist. For the KISS traditionalist, ║ │ │║ there are songs like "Rock Soldiers" and ║ │ │║ "Breakout"; the more experimental player will ║ │ │║ like the quirky sense of fun in "Dolls" and the ║ │ │║ flowing instrumental "Fractured Too". The pop ║ │ │║ fans will love the Russ Ballard cover "Into the ║ │ │║ Night" (great solo, Ace!) and Tod Howarth's ║ │ │║ reworking of 707's "Megaforce", retitled ║ │ │║ "Calling to You" and given all new lyrics. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Even the songs that are a little "different" for ║ │ │║ Ace still work; "Stranger in a Strange Land" 's ║ │ │║ rhythm has some off-time drumming but still ║ │ │║ blows me away. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ If you need a break from Yngwie, Steve, and Joe, ║ │ │║ look no further than this album for some great, ║ │ │║ diverse guitar rock. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ I bought this CD after reading the book, KISS & ║ │ │║ Tell by Gordon G. G. Gebert and Bob McAdams. ║ │ │║ Rock Soldiers is a great cut. Gebert's intro ║ │ │║ samples on Breakout is pure genius. Into The ║ │ │║ Night is an awesome Russ Ballard penned tune ║ │ │║ (who also wrote New York Groove). You can hear ║ │ │║ Gebert's sample work in the beginning of ║ │ │║ Something Moved. We Go Your Rock is a typical ║ │ │║ 80's tune. Love Me Right was writtn by Ira ║ │ │║ Schickman and you can hear the basic funk ║ │ │║ influence. Call To You is a revamped 707 tune ║ │ │║ written by Tod Howarth. Dolls is filled with ║ │ │║ Gebert's sequencing work. Stranger in a Strange ║ │ │║ land is Frehley's only sole-penned tune. ║ │ │║ Fractured Too is filled with Gebert's keyboard ║ │ │║ work. Best instrumental version. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ ║ │ │╚════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ │ │ │ │ │ │ │ │╔═════════════════════╗ │ │║ Release Tracklist ║ │ │╚═════════════════════╩══════════════════════════════════════════ │ │ │ │ 01 - Rock Soldiers [05:06] │ │ 02 - Breakout [03:40] │ │ 03 - Into The Night [04:14] │ │ 04 - Something Moved [04:07] │ │ 05 - We Got Your Rock [04:16] │ │ 06 - Love Me Right [03:56] │ │ 07 - Calling To You [04:24] │ │ 08 - Dolls [03:32] │ │ 09 - Stranger In A Strange Land [04:03] │ │ 10 - Fractured Too (Instrumental) [04:15] │ │ │ │ Total Length : [41:33 minn │ │ │ │ │ │ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ │ │ │ │ │ │ │ │ ╔═════════════════════╗ │ │ ║ Greetings To: ║ │ │ ╚═════════════════════╝ │ │ │ │ Too all people who contributes to make this │ │ archive of good music in a exceptional conditions │ │ │ │ │ │ │ │■ ■│ └───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
