A new artistic pairing to grace the label, Ali Maher and Dylan Deck debut on Suffused Music with the impressive, Matarma. Remixes come from Sri Lankan and Egyptian artists. Fresh from his full-length Legacy album on Suffused Music in collaboration with Paul Hamilton, Dylan Deck returns to the label alongside a new production partner. A Maltese artist with a list of credits to his name, Deck has seen his work featured on such esteemed imprints as Balkan Connection, Soundteller and Droid9. With a clutch of production credits to his name, Ali Maher is relative newcomer to the underground dance scene after a late 2018 debut on Trippy Code. Since then, Oxytech Limited, Elastic Dimensions Records and Another Life Music have all played host to Maher's sound. Now joining forces, Matarma is an energy-fuelled affair that bristles with dynamism via its off-beat hi-hat pattern and deep kick. A head-shaking bass groove keep the energy high as held chords and subtle melodic textures meander across the eight-minute piece. Building seamlessly, an angular motif makes its presence felt via gradual open filtering. Accompanied by soaring strings, the track returns to its smooth bass-fuelled groove in the third movement to mesmerising effect. An accomplished pianist, DJ and promoter, the multi-talented KYOTTO grew up surrounded by music and his father's record collection. Moving into the realm of production and a 2016 debut for Big Drugs Music, the Sri Lankan has since gone on to see over a half-century of production credits find their way on to the likes of Polyptych, Soundteller Records and Paul Hazendonk's MNL. Starting 2021 with a bang, a remix of Marcelo Vasami's Destiny is set to hit the shelves in January. Debuting on Suffused Music, the KYOTTO remix retains the energy of Matarma with a driving bassline and heavy beat. Melodic themes from Maher and Deck's original float across the mid-range, accompanied by steam-powered white noise washes. Additional motifs from the KYOTTO production portfolio blend seamlessly with original themes to create an evocative and powerful new interpretation with spine-tingling breakdown. A relative newcomer to the underground dance scene, Ahmed Ghazi has come a long way since original work featured on Trippy Code in mid-2018. Encapsulating a range of influences with his combination of Afro House, Hard and Melodic Techno, the Egyptian artist has gone on to see his music signed to a raft of impressive imprints that include Obenmusic, Oxytech Records and Polyptych. Another artist making his Suffused Music debut, the Ghazi remix of Matarma is another fast-paced affair that bristles with chest-thumping kick and offbeat hi-hats. A percussive layer of wood blocks creates dynamism while a new crystalline synth lead extends the melodic themes of the original, adding Ghazi's own unique take on the original. Rising and falling with ease, a beatless breakdown provides pause for breath before the relentless pace continues into the third movement in club-friendly manner.
