The Brazilian from Sao Paolo matches powerful drive with a dynamism and ferocity that is without equal in the modern dance scene, now coming full circle on Proton Music with 5 Years Outside. Beyond the capacity of most modern producers, Sobota has carved a sizeable niche for himself with an ability to be as respected within the mainstream trance arena as he is in the sub-zero climate of the underground deep house and techno scenes. A career that has risen steeply to stratospheric heights, official remixes of Coldplay and Rihanna, Jody Wisternoff and James Talk have elevated Sobota to the ranks of the musical elite, further witnessed by multiple support on BBC Radio 1. 250 production credits tell their own story of Andre Sobota's success as his work spans highly respected imprints. Anjunadeep, microCastle and Perfecto Records all feature numerous original and remix productions while Toolroom, Mooseekaa and Pryda Friends provide a stellar supporting role. Bringing an endless range of emotions and colour to modern electronic music, Sobota's work for Proton Music represents a sizeable part of his musical history. First joining the roster of talent in 2009, New Year's Eve at the turn of the decade saw the launch of the iconic Outisde EP. Still standing as a flagship for Sobota's unique sound, the trio of tracks contained within went on to become an important part of Proton Music folklore, subsequently remixed Kassey Voorn, Ryan Davis and Shingo Nakamura. Now returning to revisit his debut EP, Proton Music is thrilled to announce the release of 5 Years Outside, a stunning reinterpretation of all three tracks, updated and re-imagined for the 5-year anniversary in December 2014. A symmetrical running order to its 2009 counterpart, 5 Years Outside opens with the driving rhythms and emotive melodies of One Day Out. Familiar opening motifs shimmer across the stereo spectrum balanced by a rolling percussive groove that finds its place with laser precision. Stripped back to a solo cavernous bass line at the mid-point, the track builds and rises with graceful bliss to a rousing melodic crescendo. Red Dust follows, immediately picking out the rhythmic stabs that made the original such an iconic masterpiece. Before long, a huge rasping bass line further revels in the track's origins as smooth vocal cuts and glorious melodic refrains evolve into a stirring, hypnotic tour de force replete in delayed riffs and a storming, driving beat. Final track Unreal is a full-blown, stomping techno inspired work of art. A huge kick makes its presence felt flanked by angular beats and staccato percussion, while the melodic hook from the original is immaculately placed to provide welcome recognition of its original building blocks. A mesmerising distorted lead-line full of white-noise texture provides no greater accolade than a reminder of Gui Boratto at his finest. A trio of new interpretations has amply illustrated that Andre Sobota's talent has certainly not diminished with 5 Years Outside.
