A man continually at the cutting edge of the underground and mainstream dance movements, Fragments was released on Proton Music in February 2016 as successful remixes from Tim Penner and Nocturna followed. As Particles now releases its very own remix edition, with a fresh reminder of Sobota's original work, new interpretations from the United Arab Emirates and India take up the reins. Subandrio Sinhawansa is a rapidly rising artist on the underground house scene. In short order, the Dubai based artist and DJ has become a much sought after commodity in both the live and production arenas. A winner of the 'Pioneer DJ' Middle East DJ of the Year 2013, Subandrio's prowess behind the decks has subsequently translated into an equally impressive career in the studio. A growing portfolio of credits has seen his work allied to some of the finest imprints of the here and now as Juicebox, Flow Vinyl and Replug have all played host to the Subandrio sound. Furthermore, an appearance on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeats 3 compilation album with the track, Timecode in late 215, further catapulted the UAE artist into the upper echelons of the underground fraternity. A regular on Particles over the past year, a pair of remixes of both Lateral Cut Groove and Lanvary paved the way for an appearance on the Fall Particles 2016 compilation in October with the impressive, Black Box Between. Now taking on Andre Sobota, the Subandrio remix of Fragments cleverly retains they galloping rhythmic groove, fundamental to the original's success, while adding a further lay of percussive intrigue through clicking, ticking claves and shakers. The underlying melodic themes of Sobota's work gently filter through the mid-range frequencies while spot effects swim enticingly across the left-right spectrum in dizzying fashion. From the West of India, Pune resident, Shrinivas Sundar has hit upon a formula for success through his Color Ray production moniker. An artist who revels in the progressive and deep house genres, Color Ray has been involved in the world of music since the age of 15. A collection of production credits that have found their way to Electronic Tree, Sinnmusik* and fellow countryman, Praveen Achary's Juicebox Music, Color Ray has seen his work supported by the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Sahar Z and Vinayak^A. A recognised DJ across his homeland and beyond, performances alongside Oliver Moldan, James Harcourt and Cattaneo have cemented a reputation further enhanced by the monthly Prism show on Proton Radio that has run since December 2015 to great success. A debut remix of Biologik's iconic Sarin in November 2012 represents a sole Particles outing thus far, as Color Ray now returns to the label to remix Fragments. Retaining the strong beat and rhythmic flair central to Sobota's work, a clever interpretation of the original's melodic themes sees an extension of these ideas through soaring strings that delight via new chord progressions in conjunction with delightfully cadenced sounds. A return to Sobota's themes in the breakdown retain familiarity, while a wealth of additional production material from the Color Ray palette, in the third movement, provides a work of skill and ingenuity.
