AnthΘne is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Brad Deschamps, based in Toronto, Canada. To date he has released three albums, two EPs and one split release with M. Mucci, on labels such as Cathedral Transmissions, Assembly Field and his own Polar Seas Recordings. Apart from AnthΘne, Deschamps is also known as one half of the ambient/post-rock duo North Atlantic Drift with whom he has also released five albums and three EPs. Orchid is DeschampsÆ second release on Sound In Silence after the, already sold out, album Monuments by North Atlantic Drift, his other project together with Mike Abercrombie, back in 2013. Based around minimal loops of ethereal guitar figures, glassy ambient pads and pensive drones, Orchid is a sublime seven track album that shows a shimmering, glacial beauty. ItÆs an alluring collection of wonderful soundscapes which appeals to all fans of blown out textures, drowned swirls and the works of artists such as Harold Budd, Brian Eno, Fennesz and Eluvium. The finishing touch on the sound palette of Orchid was applied by the mastering of George Mastrokostas (aka Absent Without Leave), adding a great depth to its musical bliss. This is a limited edition of 150 handmade and hand-numbered collectible copies. It is packaged in a lovely hand-stamped 127mm x 127mm 360 gsm dark green cardboard envelope with the front cover image printed on a polaroid style photo paper and an insert sheet containing tracklist and information printed on a 190 gsm olive cardboard.
