A Tribute to Alastor Nefas (Beastcraft cover) 4:02 49:25 Aryman is a quartet hailing from the beautiful city of Bielsko. Although they've been on the scene for two decades, so far I didn't have a chance to listen to any of their five albums (three LPs and two EPs). Fortunately, there was a time when I had to listen to the last of their records. The album was released by Doomsday Elite (on a silver disc) and Lower Silesian Stronghold (on a black disc). The album lasts fifty minutes and contains ten tracks. A lot of listening! The first notes of the intro are a bit misleading. Heavy and slow (a bit doomy) sounds do not reflect the climate of the album. Well, but it's an intro. Zatracenie maintains a marching pace and a steady guitar part at the beginning. In combination with a strongly distorted growl, the whole gives the impression of communing with something I have already heard many times. In the later part of the track musicians accelerate to tempos more befitting the genre - after all, this is classic, albeit pure in sound and selective black metal. Blackmail of Damnation goes for fast tempos and brutality from the first beats. It's just a pity that the melodic line doesn't knock you out, and the groove and shallowness emanates from behind every foot-stomp. The next track, Dance of Contempt, starts with a typical "umpa umpa", but even after the transition into a similar climate to the previous one, it fails to impress. And although Stagnacja Umysu with its slow, melancholic beginning seems to bring some change to the album, it does not come. It is still monotonous and boring. Slightly more interesting (thanks to some melodic line) is the track Eksparzona Ekspiracja, but it is still far too little. Steady guitars, average tempo of the rhythm section and somewhat secretive vocals do not draw attention even a little bit special. For a change, a bit of life is introduced only by Animal Disgust, but even this track passed through my ears without attention. Meagre, shallow pace is unfortunately a flaw of the whole album. It doesn't change in this respect neither in Mroku Beskidow nor on the closing track A Tribute to Alastor Nefas. Although it is in fact a cover of the band Beastcrat, i.e. a work that does not originate from Aryman. Unfortunately, I have to write that my first encounter with the native Ahriman did not knock me on my knees. In fact, it did not even make me reflect on the output of the band from Bielsko. The album is saved by a good production, the last cover on the album, intro and the song Zatracenie.
