A Qvick, Zapfe and Dorian to Piston Recordings with the fantastic debut EP titled, Hold And Love Me. Named after the 70s underground artist, Baeka Buick, they started out some years ago with a view to create their own brand of psychedelic house music. Now, they are one of Sweden's finest acts, with a style that fuses, dub-jazz, dub-house, cut-up-disco and basically, cut-up-everything. They've been unleashing their brand of psychedelia since 2003 and have amassed an impressive back catalogue on several labels. Great to have them here and we hope to hear more from them soon. Hold And Love Me delivers an upbeat vibe right the start, thanks to a classic beat and crispy hat combo. A playful bassline dances through the arrangement, creating a vibrant deep house groove. An upfront, retro themed piano plays out dancey chords alongside a very cool clubby vocal. Rich strings join in as the piano turns to a deeper organ, accompanied by bell sequences. A definite dancefloor mover, no doubt. Catch Me At Night offers a smooth, later-in-the-evening kind of vibe. Warm bass tones are joined by moving chords and a captivating saxophone sequence. Trippy FX lace the groove alongside a very cool vocal, which adds so much character to the track. The bassline binds the groove beautifully, allowing the elements to shine while keeping the dancey groove going. Top-notch, and not to be missed. Rounding up the EP we have Move On Me, which features the rich vocals of Coffee Nights. Beaka continue their uniquely shaped deep house sound with an upfront and vibrant groove once again. Solid beats drive the track along with flurries of crispy, rhythmic percussions. Various instruments provide groovy sequences, from delicious Rhodes keys to dynamic sax, we're locked into the vibe.
