From this band remained Matthias Jakisic █▓█ (fiddle), Alexander Koenig (bouzouki, mandolin, banjo, guitar) and Harald █▓█ G. Binder (percussions) who played Irish, Spanish and Russian █▓█ Folkstandards (April 1996) and gave themselves the name "Ballycotton" █▓█ after a small fishing village in the South of Ireland.. Some months later █▓█ Alex headed to Liverpool to join the Paul McCartney School and a █▓█ substitute had to be found: Gernot Strauss (guitar). █▓█ █▓█ He fit so well into the band that after the returning of Alex the band now █▓█ contained 4 musicians. As a consequence the band created their own musical █▓█ style. Irish Folk with a lot of own influences, called Modern Folk. In █▓█ November 1996 the band started to record their first CD "Joanna's Wedding" █▓█ (Feb. 1996, Maxi-CD, 5 tracks) which should be released in February the █▓█ following year. In April 1997 the first tour led Ballycotton to Germany █▓█ and Holland manly playing as street musicians or in pubs for food an █▓█ accomodation. █▓█ █▓█ After a lot of success with their first recording and the concerts in █▓█ Austria and abroad Ballycotton was ready to produce their second CD █▓█ "Fairytale" (Sep. 1997; 11 tracks). "Fairytale" has been released in █▓█ Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Hongkong and Taiwan and the video to "The █▓█ Irish Opera" was even broadcast on CTV - Hongkong. █▓█ █▓█ As a Christmas present Ballycotton's label released the Maxi-CD "My Little █▓█ Drummer Boy" containing the original song from David Bowie and Bing Crosby █▓█ and a song from the shortly released Ballycotton Album "Fairytale". █▓█ █▓█ Alexander Miksch joined the band in the beginning of 1999 on guitar and █▓█ mandolin. Eight monthes later in August 1999 Matthias Jakisic left the █▓█ band on two reasons: serious problems with his tendons and the wish to █▓█ develop his own musical creation. Alex Miksch left the band on the same █▓█ musical reasons. █▓█ █▓█ Just one month later Jock Brocks (fiddle, banjo, mandolin and tin-whistle) █▓█ and Christina Gaismeier (violin) were found as more than equal █▓█ substitutes. In fact, that was the best thing that could have happened to █▓█ the band. █▓█ █▓█ Ballycotton left their "irish roots", concentrated more and more on █▓█ influeces from the whole European folktradition and even more over that. █▓█ The powerful, traditional style of Jock Brocks on fiddle, mandolin, banjo █▓█ and tin-whistle melts with the warm and emotional viloin tunes played by █▓█ Christina Gaismeier. Them now joins Alex Koenig with bouzouki, banjo, █▓█ mandolin and flamenco elemets on his classical guitar. This musical █▓█ cocktail is well rounded and energetic accompained by the rhythm crew Andy █▓█ Neumeister on guitar and bass and Harald G. Binder with modern █▓█ percussionbeats. This new concept is very often called World Music, New █▓█ Accoustic Music, or like the ensemble itself Modern Folk. █▓█ █▓█ Andy Neumeister, here mentioned as part of the rhythm crew, replaced █▓█ Gernot Strauss in December 2000 who put his energy into his wedding and █▓█ his baby. Just at that time the recordings to the third album "A la cut" █▓█ began (March 2001, 14 tracks). So far this CD has been released in Austria █▓█ and Taiwan. Further releases shall follow in Hongkong, China, Malaysia, █▓█ Singapour and other parts of Europe. █▓█ █▓█ Also the live-performance made a huge step further. Ballycotton moved from █▓█ a one-man show with backgound music to an unique and charismatic band █▓█ which impresses through unconventional arrangements of traditional █▓█ elements of Irish, French, Spanish and European Folk and a lot of own █▓█ compositions, full dedication on stage and distinct joy while playing █▓█ music. Fun, power and the witty presentation of this Austrian (and maybe █▓█ worldwide) unknown band project don't let an eye dry and no dancing leg █▓█ remaining on the seats. █▒█ █░█ ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ ▀
