the misfits, even going so █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ far as to clone their unique 'devilock' hairstyle. █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ furthermore, balzac was heavily influenced by horror █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ film imagery and occult visuals. these themes seem █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ to continue to influence the band even to the present █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ day. the band was very active in the kyoto and osaka █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ area punk scene and on halloween night in 1995 they █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ released their first album, "the last men on earth", █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ which featured 13 songs on alchemy records, a well █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ known indies label in japan. █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ balzac went through a substantial member change the █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ following year when akio formally joined the band as █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ their bassist. on october 31st, 1997 they signed to █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ another indies label, diwphalanx records, and █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ released their second full-length album, "deep ~ █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ teenagers from mars", which turned out to be their █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ breakthrough album in japan. that year they went on █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ a nation-wide japanese tour and also had the chance █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ to open for the newly re-formed misfits when they █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ toured in japan for the first time that year. they █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ once again played with the misfits in january of █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ 2000, which is when the relationship between the two █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ bands really became close. in addition, balzac also █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ toured with the mad capsule markets, arguably the █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ most popular alternative rock band in japan at the █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ time. █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ in addition to all the excitement that was going on █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ with regards to balzac's music, the popular toy █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ maker, medicom toy, approached the band with a █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ special limited edition toy project that they wanted █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ to collaborate with the band on. this collectible █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ figure and vinyl set was a huge hit for the toy █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ company, but also a big moment for balzac as they █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ have played a role in making some of the coolest █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ collectible figures to come out of japan in recent █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ years. █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ in 2001, takayuki began drumming for the band, and █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ the following year balzac joined the misfits on their █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ third japanese tour. soon after, on march 20th, █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ balzac released a split single with the misfits, █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ which was their first internationally released work. █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ on october 31st of that year, balzac made their first █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ appearance outside of japan. they played in new york █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ at wwe the world with the misfits at their special █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ halloween event. in 2003 the band made further █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ headway into the overseas market when they released █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ their first full-length album in the usa entitled █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ "beyond the darkness" on misfits records. that █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ summer they participated in the "fiend fest tour █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ 2003" with the likes of the misfits, the damned, the █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ dickies, and agnostic front. they played 24 shows █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ during a month-long tour of the nation. in september █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ balzac broke into the european market with their █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ release of "out of the light of the 13 dark night". █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ balzac's sixth full-length album, "came out of the █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ grave" was soon after released in both europe and the █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ united states. balzac went on tour from may 16th to █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ june 30th focusing on germany, england, denmark, █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ czechoslovakia, austria and switzerland. in total █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ they were in europe for nearly seven weeks and played █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ at 33 venues. they even had the chance to open for █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ die ─rzte in front of a crowd of thousands. █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ in january of 2005 balzac toured with the visual kei █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ band, mucc, in japan and the tour was a smashing █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ success. they also released the single "d.a.r.k" █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ around this time and filmed a unique short horror █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ film in germany at the old castle falkenstein which █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ was later released on dvd. █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ by 2007 balzac had released seven full-length albums, █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ a plethora of singles, a live cd, been featured on █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ numerous various artist compilations, and had █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ officially released many videos and dvd's. up to this █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ point, there were nearly 100 balzac titles available █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ to the delight of their fans. 2007 also marks the █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ 15th anniversary of the band and many more special █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ releases are currently in the works to commemorate █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ the event. █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ █░▓█ █ █ █▓░█ also in 2007, balzac joined the european record █░▓█ █
