RELEASE NOTES ..:: ] ............................ Serbian duo, Beat Maniacs lit up the late Particles summer with an EP of charismatic intensity. Now the twin-track, Gravitas returns to the autumn catalogue with a pair of new remixes from the southern hemisphere. DJ and producer, Kieran Krohn, from the Sydney metropolis, has shone a spotlight on the Australian east coast with his impressive song writing and craft through his Verve production soubriquet. Fusing together a variety of different genres and musical styles, tech, trance and techno are combined with consummate ease to create a new and distinctive sound that epitomises the Verve musical ethos. A regular on a host of impressive underground imprints, the Verve name has been allied to such notable names as Lowbit, Mango Alley and Visceral. A host of production credits can also be found on Krohn's own FutureForm label that has gone from strength to strength, guided by the Australian's keen ear. A regular on both the Proton Music and Particles labels, the Foundations EP for the former was a 2016 highlight, while the Fusion EP for Particles complete with remixes from Inkfish and Danny Bonnici, stands as a timeless classic. Now returning to the label, the Verve remix of Gravitas is a deliciously groove-laden affair that bristles with percussive dynamism and clip-clop hits. A sublime trademark bass line hits its stride early on while a chorus of pads and melodic textures supply delicacy and hypnotic intensity in equal measure. Converging in an eloquent breakdown, the latter stages are marked by a standout filtered bass variation and driving dance floor credentials. Born in Argentina and fully ensconced in London's microclimate, Tomas Crow is an accomplished musician in both piano and guitar and who has performed for a variety of rock acts during his illustrious career. A relative latecomer to the electronic music scene, Tomas has lost no time in becoming a sought after and highly regarded name in the underground dance environment. Already scoring success under the Rockin' Beats pseudonym with appearances on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeats 3 compilation, a debut for Stellar Fountain under his Tomas Crown alter-ego, remixing CJ Peeton in May 2016, was then followed by the superlative Birdsplace EP for Cid Inc.'s Replug. The twin track EP laid the foundations for a successful foray into the underground scene in 2016 as 2017 looks set to further extend Tomas' reach to the upper echelons of dance music's elite. Remixing Vol Pour Hernano, Tomas Crow's Particles debut is an assured affair. A strong beat and urgent percussive hi-hats pave the way for a clever reimagining of Beat Maniacs' original by adding an emotive lead line and menacing vocal textures. Rising and falling with consummate ease to create dance floor energy, Tomas's skill is to create an entirely new melodic direction and vibe by extracting elements of the original's melodic component and turning them on their head to create a new direction and flavour with skill and poise.
