An artist who draws on his country's sterling reputation for electronic music while keeping true to himself, Biesmans stands alongside a small, but highly talented crew of artists that form the core TAU family. On Heroes After Dark we get Biesmans at his finest, with three funky original cuts plus a rework from the one and only Gerd Janson... The EP kicks off with the title track, with chilling piano keys, gnarly synth lines and bitch slap snares. The electro energy is all encompassing, creating a timewarp between the past and the future. Biesmans takes us on a trip, and we're lost in sound for the entire 7+ minutes. As the track progresses he boosts the intensity and energy, adding new layers to increase the depth. It's the soundtrack to a bunch of zombie breakdancers in decrepit tracksuits, spinning on lino and losing their heads. Brace yourself for the euphoric finale, outstanding. Next up, Biesmans brings the pace down a little with 'Dissolve'. Laid back beats do their work alongside a guitar riff and melancholy chimes, which are soon joined by warped, robotic vocals. It's emotional and absorbing, as Biesmans crafts a full-blown song delivered by a cybernetic organism. Here we're treated to a thrilling showcase of his production skills, constructing a dance floor ballad with the power to send chills down your spine. One for the hopeless romantics... This is followed by the Gerd Janson remix, which pumps the track with plenty of energy. Gerd ups the tempo while maintaining the emotive nature of Biesmans' original. This is guaranteed to uplift the dance floor at peak time, with punchy beats, sprightly effects and a morose bassline - plus the robotic vocals, which are bound to spark singalongs from the crowd. Lastly, it's 'On The Run', another cut that features potent drum work. Biesmans harnessing the power of beats to inject this one with captivating energy. As soon as the b-line comes in we're off on a riotous ride into the electrosphere. The low end judders, while cosmic melodies dance a merry dance and Biesmans adds more and more analogue funk.
