1way ---- artist : Bill Wells Trio title : Incorrect Practice date : 2000 label : Geographic (geog5lp) genre : Avantgarde rls. date : March/2005 tracks : 06 bitrate : VBRkbps size : 27,2 MB "Self-taught musical visionary Bill Wells releases his brand new album Incorrect Practice. Incorrect Practice is a different mood altogether from the robust legend that we now recognise as Bill Wells, with its dreamy sequence of fast-fading polaroids, after-party comedowns and 4am walks through the Scottish countryside. The most useful reference point would be some of John Barry's elegiac early 1960's scores. The trio features Bill Wells (piano/samples), Stevie Jackson from Belle & Sebastian (harmonica) and Robert Henderson (trumpet). Also features Lindsey Cooper on tuba." - Forced Exposure "A refreshing surprise from the Geographic label out of Scotland (said label headed by Stephen of the Pastels), the Bill Wells Trio is an instrumental outfit composed primarily of piano, trumpet, and harmonica. While this is certainly not jazz, or even jazz lite, there's something in the delicate evocative quietness of this group that nonetheless reminds us of late '50s cool jazz -- unhurried, purposeful, swirling pastoral sketches that wouldn't be out of place in some arthouse film about a boy coming of age, or "Love Story", or a French new wave film set in a fishing village. Heartbreaking chord changes. Modest grandiosity. Stevie Jackson (Belle and Sebastian second guitarist) contributes just gorgeous, wistful, Morricone-worthy harmonica. It's lovely! Fans of the Rachels, Halifax Pier -- heads up! We can only hope for another album, and soon, 'cause our only complaint about this one is that it's way too short (20 minutes or so!)" - Aquarius Records 01-Incorrect Practice [04:00] 02-Strangers By The Score [03:33] 03-Burmac [03:51] 04-Four Cows [02:16] 05-Bad Plumbing [04:01] 06-Presentation Piece #2 [02:08] ------- 19:49 min
