Purveyor of the finest electronic sounds from a vibrant imagination, Biologik continues to amaze and astound in equal measures as Minx now hits Proton Music. From his studio in Toronto on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario, the Canadian artist is a name forever etched in the annals of Proton history. Founding member of the Proton Radio concept, Biologik has gone onto to become one of most-respected and sought-after producers in the modern underground dance movement. With over 170 production credits to his name for the likes of Olaris, Mesmeric and Lowbit, three full-length artist albums have yielded a smorgasbord of texture, melody and rhythm. The second of these on Stellar Fountain saw Two become one of Beatport's coveted albums of the year in December 2013, while the recent Dreamcatcher on Gorm Sorensen's Silk Sofa, saw the development of a new electronica and downtempo sound that feeds Biologik's passion for writing. Alongside an impressive production career, live performances have become a staple of the Biologik persona. Across his hometown and beyond the Atlantic Ocean to Ireland, Biologik has forged a reputation for combining the use of hardware and software to mesmerising effect, with the Irish trip producing the sublime, Dublin collaboration with Shane Robinson for Sleepless Nights. Furthermore, this love of hardware, lush pads and thick crunchy beats has prompted the release of the highly impressive Tech House and Techno sample pack for Baroque in June 2014. A portfolio that has seen a half-century of productions credits for Proton Music, Particles and Apollo since 2009 has marked Biologik out amongst the talented artist roster. 2013's One Month album provided a standout moment, as did 2013's remix of Silinder's Pavement from the conceptual Corrupt EP. Now returning for the first time in over a year, Proton Music is delighted to announce the trio of tracks that comprise the Minx EP. Opening with the title track itself, Minx is a fusion of clicking, corn-popping rhythms and luscious, undulating pads. A constantly evolving work, contrast is provided by a modulated 303-style bass line that lacerates the surrounding textures in hypnotic glory. Infinite continues the themes of its predecessor while providing a straight-up house moment. With rhythmic stabs providing subtle urgency, atmospheric motifs and emotive keys are underpinned by a strong rhythmic beat, as the track develops to reveal a sound that continually makes the listener smile. Freon comprises the final snapshot of the triptych. A constantly evolving surprise, arpeggios and deep bass, play in symbiotic relationship as melodies emerge, twinkling in bright sunlight underneath sumptuous delays and percussive hi-hat joy. A track for the underground in Ibiza, sounds coalesce in far greater form than their individual parts. Playful and exuberant, Biologik is set to flirt with success through his coquettish Minx.
