I can't be happier, as this is a ║ │ │║ seriously awesome shred-fest of classic ║ │ │║ Helloween-style power metal, and one of the most ║ │ │║ no-bullshit things this band has ever done. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ There's just no fat or filler on this one. It ║ │ │║ sounds like they just re-discovered what it felt ║ │ │║ like to be young kids again just rocking the ║ │ │║ fuck out, not a care in the world. Every song on ║ │ │║ this album is just a manic riff fest with ║ │ │║ awesome, epic soloing and kick-ass catchy ║ │ │║ choruses. Though, the more you listen, you ║ │ │║ realize they're still pretty complex, intricate ║ │ │║ tunes, just done up with that youthful piss and ║ │ │║ vigor. The riffs are pounding steel slabs and ║ │ │║ the solos wrap around them like Christmas bows. ║ │ │║ Vocalist Gio Cavaliere sounds raw and powerful, ║ │ │║ working the vocal lines into seriously great, ║ │ │║ hook-laden melodies that won't come out of your ║ │ │║ head. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Standouts are actually tough to list, as every ║ │ │║ song rules and grows on you with a few spins. ║ │ │║ Opener ôDragons Uniteö is a hammering riff-fest ║ │ │║ with a tremendous, aching chorus melody, almost ║ │ │║ apocalyptic in tone. ôSomething's Going Onö was ║ │ │║ the lead single and I didn't like it at first, ║ │ │║ but then it started to worm its way into my ║ │ │║ brain. The title track rules with a barn-burning ║ │ │║ riff, ôWars Greedö is a standout for its slow ║ │ │║ build and somber chorus, and the duo of ôAlways ║ │ │║ Runningö and ôLonelyö pack enough sweet riffs, ║ │ │║ melodies and chorus-work to fill a whole album ║ │ │║ of, say, Pathfinder or Twilight Force songs or ║ │ │║ something. I just listed half the damn ║ │ │║ tracklist. Even ones like "Sanctified" that ║ │ │║ don't immediately stand out, end up growing on ║ │ │║ you and eventually the whole album sounds great. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ The only issue is the production, which is ║ │ │║ weirdly muted and soft like the speakers had ║ │ │║ hand-knit Christmas sweaters covering them in ║ │ │║ recording, with the vocals in particular being ║ │ │║ way in the back of the mix. I don't know why ║ │ │║ they did this, as Gio is a master-class singer. ║ │ │║ But the music manages to shine through. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ It's a total 180 from their last album, and ║ │ │║ honestly sounds even more invigorated than even ║ │ │║ Stargazer, a fine album in its own right. So ║ │ │║ that makes it the best one since In Your Honor, ║ │ │║ almost a decade ago. This album can't touch the ║ │ │║ first two Black Majesty albums, but that's no ║ │ │║ shame as those are stone classics. What it is, ║ │ │║ though, is masterfully epic, well done music ║ │ │║ from a band I was actually kinda unsure about ║ │ │║ after the terrible last album.
