Oddly ║ │ │║ enough these guys were based in New York City ║ │ │║ (opening for such greats as The Plasmatics, and ║ │ │║ Manowar), and I would venture to believe this ║ │ │║ some what hurt the band, as far as generating, ║ │ │║ and solidifying a large fanbase (as this music's ║ │ │║ style had, by far, a much larger West Coast ║ │ │║ scene), and a longer career. Alls said, this ║ │ │║ release showcased a band with some real fucking ║ │ │║ promise, and offered some great variety, not to ║ │ │║ mention one fucking (scorchingly) hot lead lady ║ │ │║ with a commanding voice. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Bluntly put, the guitars on here have an awesome ║ │ │║ sound. The tone is just totally killer, and ║ │ │║ totally 1984. Seriously, listen to "On The ║ │ │║ Attack" to see how tone can amp up a tune, add ║ │ │║ more to the aggressive aspects, and make an ║ │ │║ average song a great head banger. The riffs ║ │ │║ obviously are just as important, and impressive ║ │ │║ ones are not hard to come by on this album. ║ │ │║ Whether they're playing some melodicly charged, ║ │ │║ atmospheric arpeggiated progression, or weilding ║ │ │║ some chorded rythmicly catchy power riffs this ║ │ │║ ones a monster (IMO). The sheer diversity here ║ │ │║ is just great,... tracks like "Call Of The ║ │ │║ Wild", or "Born To Raise Hell", or "Runner In ║ │ │║ The Night" all have a strong individual feel ║ │ │║ (shit, "Hots For You" could have been a Van ║ │ │║ Halen song for sure), thanks to production, the ║ │ │║ song writers, and the singer. With said, these ║ │ │║ songs are pure Glam Metal (but on the Heavy side ║ │ │║ of the spectrum), but escape alot of cliches do ║ │ │║ to an independent feel not found in alot of said ║ │ │║ genre's artists. Also, hands down some of the ║ │ │║ best lead guitar work of the year is on here. ║ │ │║ Carlo Fragnito was definitely one of those ║ │ │║ amazing guitarists, who could shred with the ║ │ │║ best of 'em yet never gets much of any mention. ║ │ │║ Every song on here is jamed pack with his leads, ║ │ │║ and solos... this man ruled with an electric six ║ │ │║ string, and knew how to create hellacious ║ │ │║ melodic dynamics. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ The lyrics on here are also a good few steps ║ │ │║ above your average Glam Metal band/album. They ║ │ │║ possess simple elements which make them highly ║ │ │║ enjoyable (relatable), and tend to stay away ║ │ │║ from a misogynistic base, which is rare in ║ │ │║ sleezey Glam like this (yet for obvious ║ │ │║ reasons). The lyrics are also layed out to each ║ │ │║ tune masterfully, allowing the singer's voice to ║ │ │║ enhance the melodics, and giving the words sung ║ │ │║ a strength, and genuineness that is solid in its ║ │ │║ emotional convections. Maryann's voice is in top ║ │ │║ form, and thanks to some decently written ║ │ │║ lyrics, and tunes she shines on here more so ║ │ │║ than countless other singers, even ones of ║ │ │║ greater talent. She doesnt offer an abundance of ║ │ │║ range, but with in her repetitive tone theres ║ │ │║ still a multi-dimensional aspect which offers ║ │ │║ the listener more than range ever could in ║ │ │║ earnest, genuine "realness" (atleast counts for ║ │ │║ more to me). Easily a singer who ranks highly ║ │ │║ amongst the best Metal chicks of all time. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ I'd recommend this to anyone into Heavy Metal. ║ │ │║ Probably a more solid realease than its follow ║ │ │║ up.
