He first met B.B.King in the 50's and used to open for him in Monroe,Louisiana. In the 60's turned down a chance to go on the road as guitarist for Bobby Bland. In the early 70's he played the Newport Folk Festival and was backed up by Muddy Waters' band. That led to an album on the Folkways label in 1973. So why have u never heard of Bob Kirkpatrick? Because his family was always his first priority. Music took a back seat while he raised his children and pursued a career with the U.S.Government. After retiring in 1986, he was soon enticed back into the Dallas blues scene by a friend that owned a small club. Since then, he was playing with increasing frequency around the dallas area, working up some wonderful new songs, and impressing people everywhere he plays. Bob is an expressive guitarist but his voice may well his most impressive instrument.
