────[Release Note]──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
St. Louis native Michael Burton formed Brother to Brother with
studio musicians Billy Jones, Frankie Prescott, and Yogi Horton
in the mid-'70s. They enjoyed success with a good cover of Gil
Scott-Heron's "In the Bottle" in 1974, scoring a number nine
R&B hit. It was the only one of their releases for Turbo that
made any impact.
As far as '70s funk bands go, Brother to Brother was never a
major-league act. If Parliament/Funkadelic, the Ohio Players,
L.T.D., Earth, Wind & Fire, Graham Central Station, the
Commodores, Tower of Power, and the Bar-Kays constituted funk's
major leagues, you would have to call the lesser known Brother
to Brother a minor-league act. That isn't to say that Brother
to Brother didn't come up with its share of worthwhile grooves;
Let Your Mind Be Free is a competent but uneven funk/soul
outing from 1976. Although nothing mind-blowing occurs, the
band's sound is a likable, if undeveloped, mixture of Sly
Stone, the Ohio Players, and the pre-J.T. Taylor Kool & the
Gang. "Leavin' Me," the single "Chance With You," and the title
track are gritty funk numbers, while the jazzy, hypnotic
"Visions" would please the acid jazz crowd. And "Take My Love,"
which Brother to Brother guitarist Billy Jones co-wrote with
Sylvia Robinson, is a decent northern soul item. "Chance With
You" enjoyed some radio airplay, but even so, Let Your Mind Be
Free didn't go very far commercially. This LP has been out of
print since the late '70s, and it is most unlikely that the
album will ever be reissued on CD.
and now famous golden rules from my friend grandb00:
1. if artist wanted cd to be 1 files, he would make it 1 file
[there are such cds]. we are not remastering cds so why we are
allowed to change other stuff?
2. in logical way .cue should be used for VINYLS. vinyls are
like 1 track, and in logical way they shoul be ripped with
cues. but that would be stupid. why with cds its not?
3. if you download .cue file but want to burn only 1 tracks for
example for your car cd, you have to cut the .cue
4. if you want some mix only for 1 track, you have to download
all fuckin 70mb+ just to cut it down and delate all the rest
5. if some slow racer starts uploading file at 50kbs, it may
take ages befoe he finishes. and you cant do anything about it.
6. its easy to make fake bootlegs with cues, because you can
put some reencoded shit with low bitrate, add some files from
cd and average is still gonna be fine = no nuke
7. if one track skips, you have to rerip whole album.
8. if somehow sfv fails, you have to reupload whole album to
pre dir, and you may get raced by this time by another grp
────[Group Notes]───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Dgn is around since 1998...
After a few years, a few rippers who left, a few who joined, people
greeting, people yelling, people threatening, people helping, people
watching, we're still enjoying our aime: Let ppl listen to what they
are gonna buy b4 they pay a single penny.
There have been also some people and groups that helped out during the
last few years, maybe it's because of them that (against all odds) we
are still releasing and doing well, those know who they are, and we'll
thank forever.
We remind our beloved public, we're against all kind of distrubution,
don't search our rips neither in your preferred XDcc channel, nor in
your local 127.0.0.1 p2p program, We do not distribute ! But it's not
nice to buy when you do not know what you're buying.
As a matter of fact, DGN is a private group, and do not need rippers,
fast or slow shells, traders, t1+ sites, couriers, prewhores, and hw
suppliers, we need only a nice chalet in Switzerland/Canada or a Villa
in the Caribbean sea where to listen to some chillout music.
If you can supply any of those, for free, feel free to contact us for
an application form.
Remember to support the artists.
