The main musical influence is electro-rock, and this is blended with other media e.g design, cinematography and fashion, and then augmented with plaintive lyrics in English and Portuguese. CSS emphasizes style, fashion and a cool aesthetic, over their place in the music industry. Their broken English compositions are sung with a strong Sπo Paulo accent: fans say this adds a special appeal. CSS is a band from Sao Paulo, (Brazil), formed by the end of 2003. The members are: Lovefoxxx (vocals), Adriano Cintra (drums, guitar, vocals and production), Luiza Sa (guitar, drums and keys), Ana Rezende (guitar and harmonica), Iracema Trevisan (bass) and Carol Parra (guitar and drums). Like the Arctic Monkeys, CSS became known through the internet. The brazilian band became famous at Trama Virtual website, which is a kind of Brazilian MySpace. Before signing with a major label, in 2004, they played at Tim Festival in the same night and at the same stage that 2 Many DJ's and Kraftwerk performed. In 2005, they signed with Trama Virtual and in October of the same year their first album was released in Brazil along with an EP that can be bought at concerts. In the beginning of 2006, CSS signed with Sub Pop to release their first international album and in July they will make a thirty-gig tour through USA and Canada along with DJ Diplo and bonde do role. CSS's Cansei de Ser Sexy, or 'Tired of Being Sexy,' is the debut for Sub Pop from the South American group. It is equal parts rock mantra and throwback into something new, transcending boundaries of genre and geography. It careers full speed into dance territory, into the unknown and untouched, to emerge all hot and bothered with wild electro-rock.
