For this reason I urge the listener not to experience the music (or any form of complex instrumental music for that matter) in the way that it has been represented by popular culture, namely as subtle background music. Play it loud and/or use headphones, and dig on the complex rhythms and harmonics that Tjader and Co. are famous for. Call it "latin jazz" music if you will, to me it goes beyond category. I consider Tjader a musical genius, and this represents one of the best recordings to introduce yourself to his genius.
