The duo of Kalle Lindberg and Lasse Alander █ █ created an unholy behemoth in 2015Æs self titled Cardinal Noire █ █ debut and return in 2018 with Deluge, an album youÆre probably █ █ not ready for, but definitely should be. █ █ █ █ ThereÆs no light at the end of tunnel. Not a glimmer of hope. And █ █ we wouldnÆt want it any other way, would we? Despite the band █ █ wearing their distinct Skinny Puppy influence clearly on their █ █ proverbial sleeves, Cardinal Noire are far from mere copy-cats. █ █ The band conjure up a bleak maelstrom of industrial chaos through █ █ harsh beats, complex programming and grim vocals. This is cold, █ █ mechanical, dense and heavily layered industrial music for the █ █ end of days. And this seems to be the aim of the band, to create █ █ as bleak music as possible whilst still retaining an aggressive █ █ industrial soul. █ █ █ █ Deluge feels like a modern hybrid of Vivisect IV and Last Rights; █ █ the songs are difficult. The melodies are often hidden deep █ █ beneath each songÆs black canvas and only reveal themselves after █ █ several listens. As is the case with the 2 aforementioned SP █ █ albums, the end result with Deluge is an album that is enduring; █ █ an album that equally challenges as it does reward the listener. █ █ There are no sugary, industrial-pop ditties here. █ █ █ █ In this modern, ugly world where a post-industrial musical █ █ resurgence is seemingly ever-growing, Cardinal Noire deserve your █ █ undivided attention.
