I am not your average thrash fan, need more melody in the vocals. But there are some thrash releases over the years that are among my favorites. Bands like Onslaught, Testament, Forbidden, Atrophy, Slayer have given us masterpieces over the years. But the new thrash revival or retro thrash or whatever they call that crap many new bands play, sound fake to my ears, if you know what I mean. If I want to listen to thrash I need power, I need hooliganism, I need razor-sharp riffs and evil sounding vocals. I need pounding rhythm section, not plastic-bucket beating. Thrash needs to be dangerous, to be violent. And CHAINSAW is all that and more. Fuck trends and auto-tune. This is the abysmal child of AC Wild with Satan after a drunken threesome with Piledriver. You want influences? To me they donÆt even matter but you can trace elements of Slayer and Razor. And why that doesnÆt matter? Because this release has the most important element, originality. How a CD that could be easily released in the æ80s sound original? I donÆt know and honestly I donÆt care. I just listen and enjoy. As for the lyrics? The true love between a gorilla and a defecated dead body. True emotions and chainsaw love making. On the serious side now (ok, IÆll try), everything is excellent, the sound is pure thrash, vocals come from demons straight from Hell, guitars remind me of the golden Slayer era and bass and drums are top notch, clever and powerful. To me this is the best thrash release of 2014 and I am very sad that I listened to it after I gave my list of the 12 best releases. You like thrash? And I mean thrash not smurf playing bullshit.
