Part of the hot package of tunes that comprised the Summer Particles 2014 compilation, UK producer, Chris Johnson, took Journey Man to the Particles faithful. Full of smooth melodic interplay, huge bass line and impact hook, the track furthered a career for Johnson that has seen him work his production magic on labels such as Axon and Lowbit with considerable success. Now, Chris Johnson returns to Particles as Journey Man receives a full release with three high-calibre remixes. Championing Chris Johnson's cause and with an integral part in his success, Anthony Yarranton's production prowess in recent years has been second to none. Celebrating a varied journey of his own, Yarranton's early success in the trance genre saw support from the likes of Paul Oakenfold and Dave Seaman. Since then, over a century of production credits have seen Yarranton's work signed to the likes of Axon, Lowbit and Dopamine. The recent Soul Tax EP for Proton Music illustrated Anthony's passion for deeper house sounds and his remix of Journey Man is a superb blend of deep brooding bass and rhythmic foundation, upon which the light and flowing piano melodies of Johnson's original drift effortlessly in delightful fashion. Rising Polish stars, Deep Fog and Cream are next to furnish their considerable skills upon Chris Johnson's work. A burgeoning career, their combined production talents have already seen them release music on Tuxedo's Electronic Tree imprint, while Deep Fog's solo efforts have seen a wealth of material on Soundteller, OLD SQL and Michael and Levan and Stiven Rivic's Mistique Music label. Joining forces for two tracks on the Summer Particles 2014, Kiki and Shantaram provided a glimpse into the duo's musical minds. Their remix of Journey Man is a wondrous creation of deep, gently pulsing bass line amidst glorious melodic structures that take Johnson's work as a starting point that develops in gloriously emotive fashion, cleverly rewarding themes of the original from the mid-point onwards. Third contributor sees Dutch talent, Menno Hornman take his Mohn pseudonym to work. Arriving with a fanfare after winning the Alchemy 2011 Producer Contest, for his track Triebwerk, judged by no lesser light than Mauro Picotto, Mohn has gone on to develop an incipient career with impressive credentials. Menno's track, You Won't Quit featured on Sudbeats Volume 2 with further work found on Sound Avenue, MNL and Balkan Connection's tech imprint, BC2. Like Deep Fog and Cream, a pair of tracks saw Mohn feature on the Summer Particles 2014 compilation, and Menno now returns to the label with his developing trademark style. Mohn's techno influences can be heard through strong, dominant kick, hypnotic hi-hat percussion and rolling toms, but melodies from Johnson's original and a distorted freeform lead create a superb juxtaposition to Mohn's muscular rhythms. A superb original and a trio of high-class remixes from across Europe have established a well-travelled Journey Man that Chris Johnson can be very proud of.
