Supported by long-term producers and fellow Virginia Beach natives The Neptunes, the Thornton brothers cohered in the 90's and found their footing in 2002 with the thunderous street hustlers' anthem "Grindin", an unlikely Top 40 hit that helped make the parent full-length "Lord Willin" reach gold status within two months of release. Held back from issuing a proper follow-up, Clipse continued to cultivate their following and critical acclaim with the first two volumes of their mixtape series "We Got It 4 Cheap", and in 2006, they returned to the charts with "Hell Hath No Fury", their leaner and darker second album. Solo pursuits after the 2009 release of "Til The Casket Drops" included numerous high-charting releases from Pusha and reflective spiritual projects from Malice, known then as No Malice. A few joint featured appearances around the turn of the 2020's cut a path toward the fourth Clipse album, "Let God Sort Em Out", in 2025.
