They currently reside in Brighton, England. In ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ February 2002 the Panda posse stumbled across Coin-Op in ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ the Dublin Castle in Camden. Astounded by the quartet's ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ art-pop-punk sensibilities and the fact that singer Nick ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ looked alarmingly like a young Mick Jagger, Fierce Panda ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ offered Coin-Op a plan. And that plan was to release ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ three seven-inch singles and a mini-album within the ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ space of six breathtaking months. The first 7" was ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ 'Democracies' and saw the blight of day on June 10th. ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ The second 7" was 'Southpaw' and was released on July ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ 22nd. The third 7" 'The Curve' is due for launch on ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ October 10th. In the meantime, 'Friendly Fire' does ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ everything it says on the tin and features all these ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ singles plus a few more. ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ In the midst of all this frantic activity Coin-Op have ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ found time to play live with an eminent selection of ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ fine acts such as The Yeah Yeah Yeahs,The Rapture, The ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ Parkinsons, Easyworld, The Polyphonic Spree, The ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ Bellrays, Bobby Conn and British Sea Power. On one ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ particularly historical, not to mention hysterical ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ Saturday in the summer they woke up in the morning in ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ Brighton, played Oxford's Truck Festival at lunchtime ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ and headlined a Fierce Panda evening at Sheffield ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ Leadmill the same night. On another somewhat frazzled ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ summertime day Coin-Op popped into Maida Vale to record ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ a Peel session AND an Evening Session Unsigned session. ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ These people are not lazy. ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ ▌ ░ ▐ Coin-Op are, however, driven and dangerously warped.
