Slovenian DJ, producer, and one of our most prolific artists, Crocy, returns to Bonzai Progressive with the superb Magika. Matevz began his musical career in 1992, attending music school in his hometown. He played the accordion for several years and during this time he was listening to different genres of music, searching for his own sound. After many years as a DJ, he discovered and became involved in producing with his first tracks being released in 2006. His original and remixes can be found on some of the best labels in the world. His relationship with Bonzai began around 2012, and since then he has delivered a raft of quality cuts, never failing to impress with consistent quality always at the forefront. The Original Mix is a solid progressive slice, led by chunky beats and rhythmic percussions, the main driving force is the warm and groovy, thick bassline. With an accompanying tribal-esque drum sequence, the track takes on a hybrid persona, marrying classic techniques with contemporary advances. Delicate arps and swirling pads combine alongside soft voices on the break, before a subdued snare brings us back to the main groove, top-notch stuff. We welcome the legends Manu Riga and Phi Phi back to BP on remix duties once again, we can't get enough of this collaboration. This one follows hot on the heels of their remix of Rick Pier O'Neil's Itzamna, which gained great support. These guys just click, they have a shared vision of how progressive house music should sound and of the structuring of tracks which always results in maximum impact on the floors. Over these last few years, they've created a solid bond, and are always impressed when they get together in the studio. On the remix here, the guys have taken the original bassline, beefing up the low end and adding a distinct crunch. Those delicate arpeggios are beautifully slotted into the track as wavy pads wash over the groove. A deeper, more hypnotic melody runs through to give extra depth. Another wonderful effort that is not to be missed. PCP aka Pieter Claeys returns to BP on remix duties, following up his last effort, Fish & Chips EP. An oldskool jock who is considered with legendary status, Pieter was busy in the 90's destroying the roof of the famous Belgian dance music utopia, Balmoral (and still is). He also held a long-term residency at The Temple (formerly Boccaccio). Over the last several years, he's released a raft of tracks on various labels, including his own, Rewritable Records and sub-label Vintage Deep and has worked with a host of top artists. He also joined forces with friend and fellow artist Olivier Pieters on their Boccaccio Life (Chapter 1) EP. Always a pleasure having him here at BP. The remix here, takes a slightly more minimal approach, the bassline still commands the groove and the arps remain a feature.
