Its successor No Halos in ║ │ │║ Hell doesn't feature any creative song writing or dynamic ║ │ │║ performances however. The record doesn't only fail to ║ │ │║ qualify as metal record but at times even as rock album. ║ │ │║ Letters to Myself is on the thin line between polished ║ │ │║ alternative rock and flat pop rock. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ On songs like the shallow, overlong and artificial ballad ║ │ │║ ''Lost in Time'', the band opts for pop balladry of the ║ │ │║ worst kind. This kind of music works with a gifted singer, ║ │ │║ emotional music and inspired lyrics but CyHra offers none ║ │ │║ of this and opts for monotonous melodic vocals, ║ │ │║ exchangeable melodies and vapid lyrics that could come from ║ │ │║ a confused teenager writing a text for poetry class on the ║ │ │║ bus in ten minutes to make sure not to get a detention for ║ │ │║ an incomplete homework. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Even the songs that feature heavier guitar play and ║ │ │║ steadier rhythms are domineered by shallow vocals, generic ║ │ │║ melodies and pseudo-contemporary electronic elements. ║ │ │║ ''Kings Tonight'' could also come from an old-fashioned pop ║ │ │║ punk band aiming for commercial success as it bores from ║ │ │║ start to finish without leaving any impression except for ║ │ │║ the urge to press the skip button. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ None of the twelve songs or two additional original tunes ║ │ │║ on the limited edition leave any positive impression. Even ║ │ │║ fans of pop rock music will find No Halos in Hell shallow, ║ │ │║ exchangeable and artificial. That's a quite sad thing since ║ │ │║ the musicians involved have played in some interesting ║ │ │║ bands before. Their talent occasionally shines through in ║ │ │║ form of a short melodic guitar solo or some tight drum ║ │ │║ patterns but everything ends up being buried under syrupy ║ │ │║ melodies. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Letters to Myself was a mixed bag but No Halos in Hell is ║ │ │║ terrible. The only element that prevents that release from ║ │ │║ hitting rock bottom is the talent of the musicians involved ║ │ │║ that shines through at some limited occasions.
