Experimenting not only with that sound, but also hip hop, rare-groove and early house, Hype's first studio session was with other members of his sound-system who messed with rap under the name Private Party, though no releases were ever made by this outfit. Hype's radio debut came in 1989 when he was offered a slot on Fantasy FM after winning the DMC Mixing Championships. Taking up the post of A&R man at Kickin' Records in 1990, Hype co-produced the groundbreaking "The Exorcist" and "The Bee" as The Scientist.
