I've never given him (Dirk Ivens) a fair chance mainly due to the fact that I've never been impressed with any of the tracks that I have heard. I usually don't dare to venture into the noise/experimental side of industrial, but when I saw who some of the remixers were on this EP, I had to check it out. This EP contains 8 versions of one track (Final Report) remixed by the likes of Die Krupps, Numb, :wumpscut:, and Leaether Strip. Track 1, remixed by Don Gordon of Numb, is a standout, heavily beat-laden, stomping industrial instrumental is the best way to describe it. The Monolith Remix (mixed by ex-Insekt Eric Wonterghem) slows down the pace a bit, and can become a bit monotonous if listened to all the way through. Jurgen Engler (of Die Krupps fame) speeds the beat back up and even adds a few new sounds that seem to come straight from the keyboards of Front Line Assembly. The :wumscut: Remix is exactly what I had expected, noisy chaos with a solid beat, and there's even a sound that sounds very reminiscent of an old Skinny Puppy tune. All in all there's something on here for everyone. From metal scraping experimental noise to rhythm orientated industrial.
