This project brings Fone One back to his formative years as a trad musician which was all about improvisation. The first 'electronic' music he made was on cheap drum machines and samplers with a feeble 30 seconds of memory where the performance and improvisation as you recorded (to tape in one take) was about 80%% of the composition process. He would then perform the tracks live at gigs as hands-on dub mixes and immediately they would become alive again. When writing for this project he took to actually 'performing' the tracks as much as possible with a new analog studio setup and then reign in the recordings and shape the track in the final edit. 8x8: As well as a straight-up drum workout of the 808 and 808-derived- textures there are some 90s d'n'b sounding pads in 8x8 and a swirling dulcimer sound.
