G Spice makes a welcome return to Piston Recordings with his latest effort titled Think Twice EP. It was back in 2018 when we last saw him here with his Higher Ground EP, since then he has been appearing on our compilations as well as releasing on other labels. An intense relationship with sound and a drive to share energy through music was the reason G Spice got into DJing. He started spinning in the early 90's performing at raves, festivals and clubs around Greece, influenced by the acid house revolution. The years that followed found him maintaining a residency at D.N.A and Groove box club as well as performing with international jocks like Alex Neri, Antoine Clamaran, Quiver and Matthias Heilbronn. Nowadays he divides his time between studio work and gigs as well as running his label Fly In A Jam Records. Think Twice opens with a nice chunky kick and crispy hi hat combo. Swirling pads and warm chords combine to deliver a wide, dynamic atmosphere. Hi strings and low-end bass tones contrast while delicate melodies float through the groove. The break paves the way for a cool arpeggiated sequence which adds an unexpected layer to the sound, creating diverse groove that will not disappoint. Risk Intelligence gets down to business with a super punchy kick drum and rhythmic percussion section. A deep, probing, plucky bassline provides delivers an infectious, dancey rhythm as gated notes rise up. Smooth, intriguing pads converge, mesmerizing alongside hi strings for that pure deep house vibe. Attention to detail is prominent, with flurries of percussions lining up against that magical atmosphere and the solid bass. Superb stuff that is not to be missed. The Odds Wizard rounds up this fantastic EP, taking us even deeper into the deep house sound. A tight drum section leads the way as mystical pads ebb and flow alongside hypnotic sequences. Cool vocal snippets cascade through the sound to the backdrop of a classic one bar bass pattern. Layers appear on top of the bass, creating a detailed and wholly infectious structure that forces the body to move.
