Later on he became a singer-author, never leaving behind his celtic heritage. "Elementary level of faith" was the album that launched his solo career internationally, but it is closer to the aesthetics and musical endeavours of artists such as Peter Hammill, Peter Gabriel or Robert Wyatt, and it represents a departure of his previous acoustic and traditional works. This album was intentionally made to show Yacoub's work to the world. So two of the tracks are in english and the rest were written in french. Yacoub is not only an acomplished muscian but also a great lyricist. It is difficult to choose between "Elementary level of faith" and "Bel", his other great work. Both are masterpieces, one more intimate, acoustic and emotionally oriented, the opther more eclectic, with superb electronic touches, more ambitious probably.
