Gamma ║ │ │║ ray stop heading forward on a speed metal route ║ │ │║ and end up regressing into the world of eighties ║ │ │║ metal. Which, in my opinion, is not a good idea. ║ │ │║ That is not the main problem here though, that ║ │ │║ is that much of the epic nature has gone from ║ │ │║ this relase, giving loads of short songs - the ║ │ │║ longest (save the ballad) is under six minutes, ║ │ │║ which is not good for gamma rays epic nature. ║ │ │║ still, despite these gripes, there is a good ║ │ │║ deal of very good material on this album, and ║ │ │║ anyone would be a fool to right it off ║ │ │║ completly. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ The intro track "induction" is actually a very ║ │ │║ good intro, slowly building into the first song ║ │ │║ proper which is... ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ "Dethrone tyranny" Brilliant, best song on the ║ │ │║ album. its no "Beyond the black hole" but its ║ │ │║ damn good all the same. nice guitar work, and ║ │ │║ all. nice lyrics as well. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Then "heart of a unicorn" with kai doing a ║ │ │║ halford on us a lot in this one. its a fine ║ │ │║ song, with an almost galloping riff there. the ║ │ │║ chorus isn't very good on this one though, the ║ │ │║ bridge is better with Kai's halford ║ │ │║ impersonation. still, good song. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ "heaven or hell" follows. A bit weaker this one, ║ │ │║ the gutars seem to be taking back seat, to the ║ │ │║ vocals here. the chorus is good though, but ║ │ │║ there is something a bit backward about this one ║ │ │║ so far. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ The "nearly" title track "New world order" is ║ │ │║ next. this is a much better song, the guitars ║ │ │║ sound strong, kai sounds good, and the ║ │ │║ songwriting is up to scratch, nearly, the ║ │ │║ problem is that you only hear the chorus twice, ║ │ │║ and the song seems far too short. this is all ║ │ │║ the worse, as this chorus is probobly the second ║ │ │║ best on the album. This is a great song, but ║ │ │║ needed to be about two or three minutes longer. ║ │ │║ (despite being 5 min long as it is) ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ "Damn the machine" follows. its the song that ║ │ │║ got me into gamma ray as well. Silly really, but ║ │ │║ its a very good song. not full throtle, but ║ │ │║ brilliant lyrics, and kai's vocals are nice and ║ │ │║ distinctive. very good song indeed, ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Then its the "infamous" "Solid" This does sound ║ │ │║ soooooooooo much like judas priest "Rapid fire" ║ │ │║ in the riff department, and it really doesn't ║ │ │║ impress due to that fact. the chorus is as ║ │ │║ always, good, but a one word chorus is not ║ │ │║ great, and as such, this is quite a poor song ║ │ │║ (rapid fire wasn't brilliant in the first place) ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ "fire below" follows now. the riffs begin to ║ │ │║ sound very eighties indeed on this one, plus Kai ║ │ │║ seems to be on an eighties trip vocalsi wise ║ │ │║ here.
