Celebrate 4:05 Release Notes: The sophomore record from the London-via-Australia duo of Kendrick and Toma Banjanin is an effort of growth not just musically, but personally. The cooed lines of the album's slinky centerpiece, I Want You Tonight, reveal independence alongside desire, while the refrain of "I'd rather be lonely than alone in love" on Lonely highlights a shift in priorities. Amongst the '90s alt-pop spirals of lead single I See Red, Kendrick concedes her past faults while acknowledging her will to evolve: "I know that I can be a better lover, be a better friend/ If you keep crying wolf, no one cares if you keep on falling." These are the songs of someone asserting possession of their identity as well as their music. With her confidence leading the way, Kendrick's vocals have been pushed to the forefront as the music around them has tightened to better represent Geowulf's live arrangements. Banjanin had opened a studio in London, giving the pair a stable space to perfect their sound. Unlike the last record's piecemeal sessions, they were able to record all of My Resignation during one three-week span trip to Melbourne. Coupled with the fact that the bandmates are now also housemates (with his girlfriend / her sister), Geowulf have never been a stronger unit.
