Later re-released in 2002 on well-regarded Bay ░░ Area label Bomb Hip-Hop Records, the album didn't sell much, but it did ░░ attract a significant if small following. ░░ ░░ One of those who heard the album and took interest in Grip Grand was DJ ░░ Design from the group Foreign Legion, who offered him a recording ░░ contract with his label, Look Records. Grip Grand made his label debut in ░░ 2004 with the "Poppin' Pockets" single, which he co-produced with DJ ░░ Design and which features AG from the group D.I.T.C. on the remix. In ░░ 2008 Grip Grand released his second album, "Brokelore", on Look Records. ░░ ░░ Once upon a time... ░░ ░░ My love of records began when I was a kid, and many of the LP's my ░░ parents played me - superhero stories, fairy tales, silly songs and ░░ sing-alongs - are still in my collection. "All Ages" was created as a way ░░ to share those memories with my own children, while at the same time ░░ acquainting them with the music I make myself. ░░ ░░ "All Ages" might be suitably subtitled 'A Child's Introduction to Hip-Hop ░░ Production' (of the sample-based sort, anyway). Every sound on the album ░░ was sourced from either dusty children's records (the foundation of my ░░ own musical journey) or from seminal breakbeats (the bedrock of hip-hop ░░ sonics): The majority of what you hear comes straight from my kiddie ░░ crates, but for extra boom-bap I turned to the neck-snapping drums that ░░ are the building blocks - the ABC's and 123's - of so many hip-hop ░░ classics. ░░ ░░ This album is a love letter to sampling and sound collage; to the weird, ░░ warped, wobbly sounds of vintage children's vinyl; and, most of all, to ░░ my kids, for inspiring and sharing these songs with me.
