Helmut Ebritsch, Lucidflow co-owner and half of the Klartraum powerhouse, returns to the imprint with his first solo outing of the year, on 'Interconnectedness'. A timely release, considering Fabric co-founder Keith Reilly recently name-checked his 'Unforgettable' track - released under the Hatikvah moniker, his pairing with Wareika's Florian Schirmacher - as one of a '20 Essential Fabric Tracks' in London's Evening Standard newspaper as part of the club's 20th Anniversary celebrations. To quote Keith, this is a deep one, and that sentiment is perfectly appropriate here. The title track is driving, carefully unwrapping layers of melody, varying aspects of frequency and chord progression. There is a sublime balance between deepness and directness, meaning the track is not one to shy into the background, but also not a flashy showcase with fading allure. 'Vibrating Circle' picks up afterwards, with a similarly emotive groove that is laden arpeggio and portamento. There is a certain laser focus at work, translating in the angular nature of the beats and bass. Finishing off, 'Doktor X (Real 303 Version)' is a change of pace, cutting the tempo and introducing bit-crushed swirls and a 303 that is deployed in its most melancholic fashion.
