RELEASE NOTES ..:: ] ............................ Dutch producers, Huminal, are a force to be reckoned with. Comprised of school friends, Paul Deetman and Jelle Jansen, the prodigiously talented duo have whipped up a veritable storm through their outstanding productions over the past twelve months. Their story now continues with a debut EP on Proton Music as we welcome Huminal and their Knocking on the Sky EP. With an impressive set of credentials to their name and illustrious support for their music, Huminal burst on to the scene via the 2011 Amsterdam Dance Event. Winning the Demolition competition with their track Greeksomnia and a judging panel including Marc Romboy, Dave Clarke and Psycatron's Paul Hamill, the Huminal name was launched onto the underground dance scene with a stunning slice of tech house brilliance. Simultaneously, Paul and Jelle were making regular appearances at Holland's clubs and festivals and across the border into Belgium. Paradiso, Club AIR and the Dance Valley and Groove City festivals have all played host to Huminal's considerable talents while the friends also organised their own underground parties building a grass roots fan base. 2014 saw Huminal make their production debut on Verve's impressively curated FutureForm Music. The quartet of tracks that comprised the Prophecies EP included the award-winning Greeksomnia and set the duo on a path that has subsequently led to further original work for Lowbit and regular appearances on the Visceral and Evocative compilation imprints. Particles has also been a regular vehicle for both original and remix work with the Acrophobia and Pocket Universe EPs receiving notable reworks and Huminal themselves remixing Andre Sobota with stunning results. A June 2015 remix of Nikko.Z provided an opening salvo for Proton Music and so it is with great pleasure that we welcome Huminal back for their debut EP on the flagship label. The title track itself is full of the trademark pulsating rhythms and intelligent instrumentation that has become such a staple of the Huminal sound. Subtle melodies drift across the upper frequency range and a bass line begins to emerge. Evolving cleverly, Knocking on the Sky gathers pace, erupting post-breakdown into a distorted, driven, bass dominant monster of a track, brim full of emotion and energy. Partner track, Doomwatcher carries on the dark and sinister overtones of its predecessor. Beautiful keys-based riffs emerge, bouncing across the stereo spectrum before an intricate, groove based percussive top-line adds substance and texture. Exploding once more from the mid-point, a vast distorted bass line is the perfect juxtaposition to the soft melodic flow, creating a work of gifted inventiveness. A debut of sublime quality sees Huminal not only Knocking on the Sky but bursting through and creating a storm of epic proportion in the process.
