Launched to an ever-growing fan base, Huminal took their Pocket Universe and further expanded their influence and dominance into the world of melodic techno with yet another pair of original productions that built upon the success of their Particles debut with Acrophobia in August 2014. Now the title track form Huminal's sophomore offering makes a welcome return as Pocket Universe sees two new remixes from a pair of Particles debutants from across the Lowlands. Dutch producer and DJ, Eugne Van Dnnewg, has been involved in the music industry for a number of years through a triumvirate of skills including label boss, producer and DJ. Co-founder of the Amateur Music imprint and former resident of the Whoosah Beachclub on the Dutch coast near The Hague, Van Dnnewg under his Gisberto production moniker, has made a name for himself on such imprints as Cinematique, Klopfgeist and his own Amateur after a debut on Paul Hazendonk's Manual Music in 2011. Now debuting on Particles, the Gisberto remix of Pocket Universe is a thumping, rhythmic offering that drives relentlessly forward with rounded kick and staccato hi-hats. Bending and pitching in melodic intrigue, a distorted lead rises and falls in stuttered fashion. Buzzing elements of Huminal's original form an innovative reworking in the breakdown before a techno-led final movement takes the Gisberto remix through yet another unexpected twist. Belgian, Andy Verschaeren, has created an enviable reputation under his Max Cue production guise. A man of multiple talents, influences have been drawn from such diverse artists as Thom Yorke, James Holden and Johan Sebastian Bach. Melding these influences together has allowed Verschaeren to take a journey through a variety of genres including trance and hardcore before setting upon the darker melancholic style that is his current staple through Max Cue. With work signed to Manual Music, Lowbit and USA Import, support for the Max Cue sound has seen Laurent Garnier, Hernan Cattaneo and Sasha champion his music through their sets. Another debutant to the Particles imprint, the Max Cure remix of Pocket Universe takes the melodic themes so central to the original and transforms them in a new direction through the use of intelligent rhythmic sequences. Beautiful chord progressions, pulsating pads and additional production bring clarity to the Max Cue melancholic style while intricately place percussive components provide dynamic skipping rhythms. A pair of new remixes from Gisberto and Max Cue have see Huminal expand their Pocket Universe further still into an alternate reality.
