Sunsweat sees three sparkling original tracks continue his story with remixes from MUUI and LADS. Originally, debuting on Particles in October 2017, a remix of LADS saw Imran Khan open his Proton Music account a year later while the Organik EP in August 2019 saw a spellbinding original track combine with remixes from Barry Jamieson and Silinder. Part of a triptych of original tracks, Sunsweat is characterised by a strong rhythmic groove and rich bassline. Building effortlessly, smooth pads and steam-powered effects add texture and depth, while a muted arpeggio meanders into a beatless breakdown to combine with an emotive lead. Rhythm and bass combine once more in the third movement as all elements create a glorious whole. Transference continues the strong rhythmic framework of its partner track and an intelligent bassline phrase adds depth and atmosphere. Rapid-fire percussive hats add dynamism while a wonderfully evocative piano phrase lights up the breakdown with class and maturity. Darker in tone, Forbidden completes a trio of original works as a pounding beat and atmospheric pad swells give off an eerie air. Shaker led percussion provides hypnotic power and percussive hits pan across the left-right spectrum with ease alongside a chorus of dramatic effects. A long-time leading figure in the underground dance scene under his MUUI moniker, the Australian born artist has been a regular across a host of flagship imprints that include microCastle, Sudbeat and Crossfrontier Audio. Moreover, his Here Now imprint has witnessed over a century of solo production credits including October 2019's The Human Use of Human Beings. Making his Proton Music debut remixing Kobana in late 2014, MUUI now returns with a shimmering remix of Sunsweat. Full of the melodic atmospheric poise of the original, MUUI's immaculate production techniques have added layers of texture and depth. Additional melodic flourishes add intrigue while white-noise effects swim enticingly across the soundstage. A chunky rhythmic groove sits perfectly against the melodic elements adding dancefloor prowess to a majestic offering that sees MUUI at the peak of his powers. Luc Angenehm and Deep Suite have been regulars on Particles and Proton Music since 2017. Impressive artists in their own rights, their combined forces under the LADS soubriquet saw the German and South African axis create a three-track gem in September 2017's Miss Jean. The twin-track Hagel followed in May 2018 with typical fanfare before the duo returned to remix James Warren in early 2019. Now, reworking Imran Khan, the LADS interpretation of Transference takes the track on a gloriously crafted journey that makes full use of Khan's beautiful piano phrases. Adding layers of sound through pads and hypnotically plucked backdrop, a sublime new arpeggiated sequence hits the heights in the third movement to mesmerising effect. A strong rhythmic framework adds dancefloor character in abundance as a rolling percussive groove illustrates skill and technique. The result is a track of rare beauty.
