Born in Spain, Ioan Gamboa is an artist who has flourished since a 2011 debut on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat. Settling in underground dance capital of Europe, Gamboa's Berlin studio has provided a backdrop for a blossoming career that has continued to 'Spiral' upwards arriving now with Feeling. 35 production credits lay next to Gamboa's name with the Fire and Ice EP sitting proudly on the throne, its shadow cast long with remixes from the likes of Asten, Ad Brown, and Andrew Benson. Moreover, a debut full-length album graced the Particles catalogues in July 2014 to widespread acclaim with its electronic and techno magic. And so it is with great delight that we now welcome back Ioan Gamboa once more, with Feeling. The original mix itself is full of the intricately programmed rhythms and the deep, dark melodies that have made Gamboa such a force in the modern underground scene, creating a work that is skilful, cultured and highly impressive. The first of two remixes, Irishman, John Kearns has made significant strides with his Lateral Cut Groove production moniker. Initially known for his impressive DJ skills, victory in a trio of DJ competitions and a performance on the main stage at Creamfields Ireland were early highlights. A degree in Music Technology opened a door into the world of electronic music production and it has been the Liquid Grooves imprint that has provided a home to the Lateral Cut Groove sound, with over a score of production credits dating back to 2011 and launching with the highly-regarded Electric Feet EP. A clutch of releases on the Particles label has seen remixes of Stephen J. Kroos, BiG AL and Anthony Yarranton find widespread support, while the Organised Chaos track, originally part of the Fall Particles 2012 compilation, see a full release in its own right. A typically deep bass line and throbbing beat provide the basis for the Lateral Cut Groove Remix of Feeling. Gaining momentum as it journeys forward occasional forays into melodic patterns can be heard as a soft vocal phrase gently drifts across the pulsating beats and groove. In a refreshing break from the norm, Boston's Mrmilkcarton does not take his production persona too seriously. In an industry full of egos, the American's video bio can be found in a YouTube video of Blur's Coffee and TV. Belying this simple cardboard exterior, the Mrmilkcarton sound has become a growing part of the Silk label family catalogue since 2013. With a number of appearances on Arrival, including June 2014's Complectus EP and remixes of Fon.Leman and Everlight, the dairy king has hit the heights with a signature high-tempo, melodic energy that has found favour with Ad Brown and Zack Roth. Also in the early stages of developing his own Adrenalin Room imprint, the Mrmilkcarton remix sees Feeling fuelled by a saw-edged bass line that pumps mercilessly throughout its six-and-a-half minute journey, pausing for a luscious breakdown that cleverly uses themes inherent in Gamboa's original to impressive effect.
