Hailing from the hub of the European techno scene, Berlin resident Ioan Gamboa has made a notable impression upon the current EDM scene over the past twelve months. After a previous string of successes and an album on his own Madberlin imprint in 2010, under the moniker Kill Minimal, this new phase, a new name was chosen to reflect a more melodic approach to his craft. Under this guise, Ioan Gamboa has had immediate success with releases on a number of high profile labels including, Replug, Stripped and Sudbeat and has been remixed by industry heavyweights, Oliver Lieb and Hernan Cattaneo. Continuing in this rich vein of form, Ioan's Fire and Ice EP now debut's on Particles after a successful remix of Oktober by Jorg Murcus and his own track The World Outside on the Spring Particles compilation earlier this year. In light of the continuing success of work under this new name, The World Outside will also feature as a forthcoming remix EP on Particles. The 3 tracks comprising The Fire and Ice EP are works of sonic beauty marrying Cid Inc's progressive power with Henry Saiz's melodic techno. Sparkles is full of driving, rhythmic energy that evolves and builds to an epic wall of sound with distorted razor sharp arps underpinning melodies which float effortlessly over the top. The Garden of Bones has a slightly lighter feel with its groove, ethereal pads and wonderful delayed melodies crisscrossing across the stereo soundstage the word beauty barely does it justice. The third offering, Kahleesi starts as a more of tribal, deeper affair before a cascade of rhythmic arpeggios weave their way towards the listener as the track progresses. With literary theme running through the EP, Ioan Gamboa has told a story of rare quality through his music making, and is a man at the top of his very own game of thrones.
