Now I'm sure you are all probably saying, "Wow! Tai Pan is │ │ just awesome at this game and there's no way we could beat him." Rest │ │ assured, this is completely true. However, there is a 1% chance that │ │ this amazing winning spree could be attributed to the fact that I │ │ knew all the commands in the game and easily manipulated the weapons to │ │ defeat my opponents. Should this be the case, I felt that it would only │ │ be fair to release the game controls to the game ... so voila! │ │ Now I had originally intended to include the entire manual in this │ │ release, but I felt a 15 disk document add-on would be ridiculous. So │ │ all I'm giving you is the basic Game Controls. However, I will attempt │ │ to clarify a few things that aren't mentioned in the included charts. │ │ │ │ - When you start the game, you have only 1 weapon in your arsenal, the │ │ Bryar pistol. As you defeat enemies and take their weapons, you will │ │ have more weapons at your disposal. Different weapons use different │ │ ammo and depending on the situation, each weapon has its unique │ │ advantages and disadvantages. The weapons in JK operate and function │ │ much like the ones in Dark Forces. Most have the two modes of firing/ │ │ attack called primary fire (the CTRL key or left mouse button) and │ │ secondary fire (the Z key or middle mouse button). │ │ │ │ 1) Fists: One type of punch .. the painfull one. │ │ 2) Bryar Pistol: One type of fire. AMMO: 1 energy unit per fire. │ │ 3) Stormtrooper Rifle: One type of fire. AMMO: 2 energy cells. │ │ 4) Thermal Detonator: Primary mode explodes on impact, secondary mode │ │ has a 3-second delay. The longer you hold down your Fir key, the │ │ farther you throw. AMMO: None. │ │ 5) Bowcaster: In primary fire, hold down the Fire button to charge │ │ the Bowcaster to fire up to five bolts. Secondary fire shoots a │ │ magnetically sealed bolt that bounces off walls and goes around │ │ corners. Best used for group situations in close quarters. │ │ AMMO: Power Cells. │ │ 6) Imperial Repeater Rifle: Primary mode delivers a rapid single │ │ burst shot, while secondary mode delivers a triple burst spread. │ │ AMMO: Power Cells. │ │ 7) Rail Detonator: In primary mode, this missile launcher sends out │ │ an explosive device that explodes on impact. In secondary mode, │ │ the charge attaches to any wall, enemy, object, or ship and │ │ detonates automatically after a few seconds. AMMO: Rail Charges. │ │ 8) Sequencer Charge: A timed explosive device in primary mode. The │ │ secondary mode is a proximity device which explodes only when │ │ someone approaches the armed mine. AMMO: None. │ │ 9) Concussion Rifle: Primary fires an explosive projectile (8 cells │ │ per fire) that explode in shockwaves. CAUTION IN CLOSE QUARTERS! │ │ Secondary fires a shotgun-like projectile (4 cells per fire) for │ │ safe use at close range. AMMO: Power Cells. │ │ 0) The elegant lightsaber of both the dark and light Jedi Knight is │ │ one of his most powerful. You CANNOT defeat the Dark Jedi w/o it. │ │ Primary fire produces quick strokes. To perform different swings │ │ Kyle must be moving when the CTRL key is pressed. Secondary fire │ │ produces a wide double swing that can clear out a large area. │ │ │ │ BE SURE TO USE THE FORCE AGAINST MAJOR ENEMIES! │ │ │ │ Use of the force is based on an experience point system that allows you │ │ to customize your characters Force abilities. You gain more Force as │ │ you progress through the game. As each mission unfolds, you earn │ │ experience points (in the form of stars) that are tallied when a │ │ mission is complete at the FORCE POWER ALLOCATION screen. │ │ │ │ Available Force powers are highlighted and you can assigns stars to │ │ them. The more stars you assign to a Force ability, the stronger and │ │ more effective the Force ability is. BALANCE YOUR FORCE POWERS! │ │ │ │ The MORALITY SCALE on the Force Power Allocation screen keeps track of │ │ how good or evil you have behaved during gameplay. If you kill │ │ innocent people/droids, or pick the dark side's Force Choke over the │ │ light side's Healing, the Morality Scale will slip in the appropriately │ │ dark direction (right). If you shun killing innocents and stay away │ │ from the dark side in your Force power choices, your morality star │ │ moves into the light (left). The moving gold star slides back and │ │ forth in the light/dark spectrum throughout the game, depending on │ │ your actions and which Force power you've picked. │ │ │ │ CHOOSE WISELY!!! │ │ │ │ At some point in your journey, you will reach a point of no return. │ │ Your morality at that defining moment will decide which path you take. │ │ If you have held true to the teachings of Rahn and your father, you │ │ will resist the temptations of the dark side. Or you may sucomb. Then │ │ your choice is made between the light or dark side. │ │ │ │ At this crossroads, the Force Power Allocation screen appears and your │ │ fate registers on the Morality Scale, and determines which path you │ │ will take and the outcome of the game. Gameplay doesn't change, but │ │ your motivations do. You'll either protect the Valley of the Jedi from │ │ Jerec, or try to take the Valley's limitless power for yourself. │ │ │ │ Good luck! │ │ │ │ -Tai Pan │ │ │ │ PS There will be no video add-on to this game so please don't ask. │ │ │ ┌────────────────┬──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐ │■ GROUP NEWS ■│ │ ╞════════════════╛ │ │ │ │ A note about our release of Buccaneer ... there appears to be some kind │ │ of driver/video card conflict for some people that prevent them from │ │ playing the game. The game does work for some however and we apologize │ │ if it doesn't work for you. It would be EXTREMELY LAME for a group │ │ to release a *STORE PRESS* and claim that ours wasn't final b/c it is │ │ in fact the final press. │ │ │ │ Enjoy Jedi Knight and expect a lot more from PARADiGM very soon! │ │ │ │───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────│ │ │ ░▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒░ ╒═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╕ │ PARADIGM SITES │ │───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────│ │ ET WHQ XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX ET Staff │ │ PC USHQ XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX PC Staff │ │ BB2 EHQ XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX BB2 Staff │ │ AV GHQ XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX AV Staff │ │ CO HQ XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX CO Staff │ └───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘ ░▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒░ ╒═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╕ │ HOW TO REACH US: │ │───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────│ │ │ │ │ │ WWW.PARADIGM.ORG │ │ │ │ │ └───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────[10.02.97]──┘ BURN BABY BURN!!
