Formed in Germany in 1990, Jaded ║ │ │║ Heart released their first album in 1994 and ║ │ │║ have consistently delivered an album almost ║ │ │║ every two years. They return with their ║ │ │║ thirteenth studio album, Devil's Gift. And it's ║ │ │║ another smoker. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Blurring genre lines, Jaded Heart delivers ║ │ │║ melodic heavy metal with the accessibility of a ║ │ │║ hard rock groove. They do this by combining the ║ │ │║ essential musical elements in the proper ║ │ │║ combination. This includes blending melody and ║ │ │║ harmony in the arrangements from twin guitars ║ │ │║ and clean vocal arrangements, fierce and fiery ║ │ │║ guitar solos, a touch of synths, and power and ║ │ │║ groove from the rhythm section. All these things ║ │ │║ come together in melodic heavy metal rockers ║ │ │║ such as The Enemy, Phoenix, Story Of My Life, ║ │ │║ Final Moment, and the bonus track Black Days. ║ │ │║ Yet, overall and as usual, the emphasis is more ║ │ │║ upon heavy metal than hard rock. Alternatively, ║ │ │║ more then a few songs find Jaded Heart moving ║ │ │║ into another heavy metal direction. Songs such ║ │ │║ as The Enemy, Conspiracy Of Science, and the ║ │ │║ aforementioned Story Of My Life can have the ║ │ │║ pacing of power metal. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ In the end, Devil's Gift simply finds Jaded ║ │ │║ Heart in fine form, delivering their classic ║ │ │║ melodic heavy metal in a hard rock wrapper. ║ │ │║ There's nothing wrong with constant consistency. ║ │ │║ If you're a fan, get the album.
