Part of Proton Music's summer programme, James Monro and his Nectar EP has provided rich entertainment both in original form and in a series of remix EPs including a quartet of remixes for the Particles imprint and continuing now on Proton with two reworkings of the highest quality from Lithuania and Israel. Lithuanian, Kastis Torrau, needs very little introduction to musical cognoscenti. From the culturally rich city of Kaunas, he has risen rapidly to the highest echelons on the underground music scenes from humble beginnings as DJ in local clubs and bars. A classy production sound to call his own, winning Sasha's Cut Me Down remix contest with Donatello and Arnas D kick-started an already successful career and which has subsequently seen multiple releases on Last Night on Earth as well as, Perspectives Digital, Hope and a quarter-of-a-century's production credits for Stripped. Furthermore, an official remix of Andain's anthemic Beautiful Things for Black Hole paved the way for even greater success. August 2014's remix of Soulwerk's The Lost Paradise with Donatello marks Kastis Torrau's sole contribution to Proton Music thus far but we are extremely excited to welcome him back, in solo guise, to supply his unique skills to James Monro. Working his production magic on Serum the Kastis Torrau remix is full of the hallmark chunky, tech house rhythms for which he has become renowned and his unique breed of sexually charged house. An epic bass line soon forces its way to the foreground while melodic elements from Monro's original provide resonance. Full of seething club mastery, Kastis Torrau once again has proved his worth in outstanding fashion. Tel-Aviv based producer and DJ, Lonya Koval, is a man of multiple talents. DJ appearances at multiple venues across Tel Aviv and a second tour of Argentina including an appearance at Bahrein with Luis Junior and Ricky Ryan in August 2015 have enraptured global audiences. Furthermore, the monthly Floating Point show on Proton Radio has further cemented Lonya's sought after sound and illustrated an intimate knowledge of the scene. Production work for Plusquam, Parquet and the stunning Fistashim EP for Sudbeat in June 2015, have been an impressive addition to Lonya's portfolio as has a starring role in mixing CD1 of the latest Sudbeats 3 compilation and a number of releases on his own successful and carefully curated Asymmetric Recordings. December 2014's Consensus Must EP marks a highlight in a release portfolio with Proton Music, supplemented by remixes of DNYO, Scotty.A and Erid Irmak, as we welcome back Lonya for a sublime rework of James Monro. Taking the chunky, full-blooded groove of the original, subtle wave-like textures gently throb in rhythmic syncopation as a stepped percussive riff cuts through the atmosphere. Evolving effortlessly a delicious riff reveals itself to provide an aural hook that locks into the subconscious with vice like grip.
