So, as any Legend fan will know, when the movie was
originally scored, it carried with it this great Jerry
Goldsmith score. When it came to the US, the
distributors said "No, we want something to appeal to
the kids," and hired 80s synth-pop band Tangerine Dream
to redo the -entire- score, which is what became the
soundtrack to the US version of the film. In 2000, both
versions of the film were finally released, which meant
somebody had to go digging for the soundtrack to
capitalize on the marketing. What's here is what they
could find and restore, so don't be suprised if an
"Expanded Edition" of the soundtrack shows up soon.
Regardless, it's a great soundtrack.
