Although Lewis' remakes are stronger than, say, Chuck Berry's revisions of his own classic hits, by focusing on such material Hits ignores the foundation of Jerry Lee's remarkable late '60s comeback, as well as the fact that his country recordings from this time rivalled his Sun recordings in terms of quality.
