Based out of Barcelona, Spain and with numerous releases on other labels such as Minisketch, Beatwork, Wake Up, Suruba and many more, John Dare aka Ricard Pastor started out his electronic music career in 1995. Throughout the years he has nurtured his own style, sometimes merging genres and always delivering solid results. His back catalogue is hugely impressive and is ever-growing which is a testament to the talent this guy has. El Mallahah grabs your attention right from the off. A lively, upbeat percussion lures you to the floor as a hypnotic rolling bassline drives the groove. Ethnically charged vocals add a richness to the sound, with a tribal flavour and an elevating mood. The bassline ruptures into a solid, full on experience as the knobs are twisted. Softer vocals emerge and are stacked against other distorted vocals for a stark contrasting vibe. A wonderful construction and a must have no doubt. Marratech follows on from its predecessor, delivering that strong, powerful bass driven groove. We're treated to more tribal-led percussions that ramp up the groove nicely. The vocal narrates an intriguing, cultural vibe that sends shivers down your spine. Quirky production tricks warm, deep house chords and an infectious sax sequence add an interesting touch that keeps us hooked for the duration.
