He grew up with the cold war, ││ │ the Inari missile incident & the Chernobyl disaster right on ││ │ his doorstep, so the young Jori Hulkonnen found escape ││ │ through music. He found all things dark & gloomy had ││ │ beautiful appeal, everything from Visage to the Cure and Pet ││ │ Shop Boys to John Foxx. When the first wave of techno & ││ │ electro hit Sweden later in the 80's Jori had is radio tuned ││ │ in and he realized this was his calling. He got his first ││ │ sampler & drum machine in 1988 and started to experiment. ││ │ Eventually he hooked up with schoolmate, Tumas Salmela, ││ │ local DJ, Kapa, and producer, Ari Ruokamo. And so, LUMI ││ │ records was born. Since then Jori has released tracks on ││ │ Trainspotter's Nightmare which was created by Cari Lekebusch ││ │ (known for his Hybrid label). He created the label for that ││ │ Oulu sound which is were Jori and his friends were based in ││ │ Finland. Jori then moved to French label, F Communications ││ │ and released his debut LP 'SelkΣsaari Tracks' in 1996. ││ │ ││ │ More recently he's been working outside of Finland: remixes ││ │ have included Telepopmusik and Goldfrapp, he's been doing ││ │ collaborations such as the Tiga & Zymtherius (aka Jori) ││ │ 'Sunglasses At Night' and he's been busy DJ'ing all over the ││ │ world.
