His previous release ΓÇ£prometheusΓÇ¥ was an hour long composition. With ΓÇ£atomicΓÇ¥ Josh set out to take the opposite approach - a collection of short form songs. He established some criteria for the writing and production process: 1. Songs should be no longer than four minutes. This is a direct departure from his third release ΓÇ£prometheusΓÇ¥ which is a single composition clocking in at over one hour. 2. Josh will do all of the mixing and mastering himself, as a learning process. 3. Writing, recording, mixing, and mastering for each song should take no more than two working sessions. These constraints actually made the songwriting process easier in many ways; not lingering on minute details, simpler song structure with less parts, going with the feeling of the songs more so than the intellectual processes, mixing more intuitively, and starting on the journey of learning how to master a recording.
