RELEASE NOTES ..:: ] ............................ Hitting the Proton Music release schedule in mid-2020, Juan Deminicis and his twin-track Synchronicity was an instant classic. With a pair of remixes from Alex O'Rion and Subandrio forthcoming on the flagship imprint, a 'Particles Edition' sees remixes from Colombian and UAE artists. From the northern Caribbean coast city of Cartagena, Gux Jimenez has been a mainstay of the Colombian dance music scene for over 15 years. Nominated for the Latin American Electronic Music and Vicious Music Awards in 2018, Jimenez has an enviable triple century of production credits to his name for such esteemed imprints as Round Triangle, Balkan Connection and fellow countryman, Juan Pablo Torrez's Clubsonica Records. Making his Particles debut, the Gux Jimenez remix of Synchronicity is a multi-layered offering that bears all the melodic hallmarks of Juan Deminicis' original offering. Adding a driving beat and 16th-note rolling bassline, familiar refrains ripple across the mid-range while white-noise washes and dancefloor character create a dynamic new sound that reaches its zenith via a filtered and fizzing rendition of the stepped arpeggio so central to the original. The result is a rich and impressive Particles debut. A regular across the clubs of the Middle East and a Pacha Ibiza Dubai residency to his name, Ejaz Ahamed is as comfortable behind the decks as he is producing the club gems that fill his unique DJ sets. With performances alongside a host of notable names that include John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and James Zabiela, Ahamed's production credentials are no less impressive in a career that began in early 2017 with remixes for PHW Elements and Yin and Yang. Additional work for OLD SQL, Stellar Fountain and BC2 in 2019 has also seen Ahamed's stock rise. A trio of remixes for Particles that have seen reworkings of Jero Nougues and Sam Heyman in July 2018 and June 2019, were followed by a remix of Julian Nates' Renaissance in April 2020. Now adding a fourth remix to his Particles portfolio, the Ejaz Ahamed remix of Synchronicity flows effortlessly via a dynamic rolling percussive groove and heavy beat. A cadenced bassline adds to the dancefloor character as elements from Juan Deminicis' original seep into the eight-minute piece. Simultaneously, a raft of additional production material weaves its way in and out of proceedings. The stepped arpeggio so central to the original makes its presence felt in the second half as textured pads add further to a hypnotic and well-crafted remix.
