Originally part of the elevated, VS series, Juan Deminicis and Pablo Acenso's deep and pulsating collaboration, Downshifting was pitted against the dance floor dynamism of Nick Stoynoff and Ad Brown. With Nebulas already receiving a full release in December 2012, the Argentinean duo's magnificent, Downshifitng now takes centre stage with two glorious remixes from Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Israeli duo Guy Mantzur and Khen have been at the forefront of their country's EDM success in recent years. Operating from the country's capital, Tel Aviv resident, Guy Mantzur has a passion for electronic music crossing all genre labels, from chill-out and techno to progressive and tech house. As co-owner and AandR head honcho for the Munich based label Plattenbank, his solo releases have graced the portfolios of Mesmeric, Sudbeat and Hernan Cattaneo's Masters Series for Renaissance. A strong production heritage has gone hand-in-hand with a DJ pedigree that has seen Mantzur hold a residency at the Israeli capital's famous, The Cat and The Dog. Similarly, young Israeli countryman, Khen is a regular at the decks of the Tel Aviv club. Displaying all the skill and verve to see his own work played by the industry's finest, in the shape of Guy J and Nick Warren, Khen's own catalogue of releases is growing at a rate of knots. Work for Lowbit, Bemudos and Mantzur's Plattenbank in 2011 and 2012 demonstrated a rare talent, while 2013's Scales for 99percentrecording confirmed Khen's status as a growing force. With almost a score of collaborative efforts to their names and a second remix of Nick Stoynoff's epic, Berlin Dreams set to follow for Proton in the coming months, Mantzur and Khen's remix of Downshifting is a modern progressive gem. Rich in rhythmic and percussive texture, the Israelis have taken the languorous melodic sentiments of the Juan Deminicis and Pablo Acenso's original and formed a wonderfully deep sound that is further enhanced by rhythmic stabs and a sublimely emotive bass line. The rapid rise of Ukrainian, Svatoslav Tvardovsky over the last two years has been nothing short of meteoric. Responsible for a prolific stream of music par excellence, the Kiev resident has seen his work feature on goliaths, Black Hole, Ministry of Sound and Armada while retaining the underground progressive sound that has seen his work supported by John Digweed, Henry Saiz and Guy J. Running his own Stereo Paradise label has led to a further blossoming of sounds from Eastern Europe and beyond and no better illustrated than the recent collaboration with 99percentrecordings that has seen Tvardovsky crowned number one in the Beatport Progressive House Top 100 Releases for his Stereo Paradise compilation. Taking on Downshifting, Tvardovsky has achieved a thumping beat-driven remix with supremely programmed bass line that fits like a glove under shuffling hi-hats and trademark arpeggios that mark the 'Tvardovsky sound'. A masterful remix that effortlessly retains the melodic essence of Deminicis and Acenso's original work while adding his own distinctive stamp ensure Tvardovsky's remix is an aural delight. Two subtle 'shifts' in emphasis from Guy Mantzur, Khen and Tvardovsk have ensured that Juan Deminicis and Pablo Acenso's Downshifiting is still upwardly mobile.
